Is a song by the American band The Doors, from their second album Strange Days. The song peaked at # 12 in sales on the "Hot US 100 Chart". According to Allmusic's analysis, the song "shows the group's fascination with theatrical music of the European cabarets" . The theme speaks of alienation, of being a stranger and, according to the aforementioned analysis, the song could be written to the hippie culture, the marginalized and drug users, especially LSD. The song was written by Robbie Krieger along with a depressed Jim Morrison as they walked down the Laurel Canyon. Drummer John Densmore believes the song is a manifestation of Morrison's "vulnerability ".
