LIMITING BELIEFS ON THE LANGUAGE LOVE | Self - Improvement Challenge - Every Friday's PAUSE FOR THOUGHT #Week 6

in #life6 years ago

Some say, "I can't fall in love or love someone who is twenty or even thirty years older than me. It's impossible! I just can't take it."

Some people raise eyebrows seeing women marrying older men or young men marrying older women. They brand them with some profanities - gold digger, cougar, desperate, hopeless and the like. That has become a common label to those couples.

Dustin Hoffman as Benjamin in the movie The Graduate, he was 21 and Mrs. Robinson was in her 40s.

While some people pass their judgement to them, I see an opportunity to understand that love is not constrained by age. I also realized that those wrinkles or the sagging skin do not define what love is all about. That kind of love is something worth noting as the couple can learn so many things with each other as they both come from different generation. A partner who is younger will surely learn so many things from his/her partner who is years ahead of him/her and vice versa. I find it challenging and exciting knowing that a different kind of adjustment between the two is a common ground.

Some say, "I despise same-sex love for it's just disgusting. I affirm that the world is created only between a man and a woman. They're made for procreation and the Bible clearly stated that..."

Some people feel puking seeing same-sex couple walking hand-in-hand in the street. They spit disgust and see those couples as disgrace in the society. They have been fixated to the idea that those kind of couples are just for purely sex, what's worse is they think that those couples are carriers of HIV. Some people condemn them believing that they are the lost children of God.

Award winning French film, Blue Is The Warmest Color features Adele and Emma's portrayal of love.

While some people have that belief and celebrate their disapproval to same-sex couples, I see an opportunity to comprehend that love comes in different forms. It has also reminded me to uphold my values to respect people and their decisions in life. When people respect one another and do not impose their definition of what "normal" or "standard" is, this world will surely be a comforting place to live.

Some say, "I can't live without him/her. He/She is my world. This life is to be spent with the only love I have. I could never imagine how my life would progress without him/her."

Some people are just deeply in love to their partners to the point that it's too much. Many fall in love and give too much, but just so very few who are wise enough in giving oneself an extra care by sparing self-love. (Are you one of the few?).

Self-love is one of the factors needed to sustain a healthy romantic relationship.

While I admire those people for being sincere and being authentic in loving someone, I learn that loving oneself in the first place is a must to sustain your love to someone else. It's when you know your worth that you can love someone as worthy as loving yourself.

These three different circumstances broaden my understanding of my existence in this physical world. I have become more open-minded. And I have become more fascinated to the beautiful language of love.

We all love in so many different ways but I don't think love can be explained or defined.

Sometimes it's simple yet complicated; complicated but enjoyable; enjoyable but sad; sad but lovely; lovely but painful; painful but with full of adventures. Sometimes...

Whatever... let's take the chance to love, for surely it is the ultimate and wonderful experience we all can have in life.

This is my Week 6 of my Self-Improvement Challenge - Every Friday's Pause For Thought.
