I Won't Forget Our Summer Escapade in Coron and Busuanga!

In the Philippines, whenever summer comes, there’s this urge for everyone to be enjoying the beach, the sand, and just being with family and friends. So, the Steemit Philippines’ major contest about the most unforgettable summer getaway is just timely and I can’t just let this pass without joining, so this blog entry is an honorary entry.

When in the country, most tourists would want to visit Boracay because that’s a very famous spot but there’s one more that I’d like to share with you, and that’s Palawan. I had been to three different spots in Palawan, Puerto Princesa, El Nido, and Coron. Today, my most unforgettable summer getaway would be in Coron. El Nido is a favorite but we went there not during the summer season so we will reserve that for a different time.

Coron is located in Palawan as mentioned, to get there, one has to take a plane or a ship. There’s a trip from Mactan Island to Busuanga and we took that trip because of the seat sale by Philippine Airlines.

We traveled to Coron in May, that’s the peak of the summer season. It was an unforgettable one because of the following:

✨Perfect Sunset View at Mt. Tapyas✨

On our very first day in Coron, we started our adventure with a trek to the top of Mt. Tapyas. We climbed 721 steps just to get to the top but it is very rewarding as we saw the beauty of Coron Bay together with the mountains farther into the sea.

Also, the sunset view was super beautiful that we were relaxed while watching the sun go down and hid from the hills and the horizon.

✨Snorkeling with the Fishes in Shipwrecks✨

On the second day, we had our island-hopping adventure. It is composed of 70% snorkeling. And we found several fishes and beautiful sea creatures underneath.

Indeed, it’s a whole different world under the sea!

What’s also amazing was that we had another island hopping experience in Busuanga which was part of our 3rd-day tour and we had snorkeling around Coral Garden.

The highlight was when the boatmen threw some rice into the water and hundreds if not thousands of fish came to eat and swim with us!

✨Clearest and Cleanest Lake in the Country✨

image.png

Yes, you read it right, there’s this lake which has been named the clearest and cleanest in the country and we can only find that in Coron. It is called Kayangan Lake which means entrance.

image.png

Prior to arriving at the lake, we were also treated to a wonderful view of the area where boats usually dock.

image.png

At Kayangan, we went swimming and just enjoyed each other’s company. Indeed, it was the cleanest!

✨Up Close and Personal with the Giraffes and Endemic Deers✨

image.png

This was what I considered one of the best experiences we had for this summer getaway because we were able to feed the giraffes personally so we had a close and personal encounter with them in the Calauit Safari Park.

image.png

It was amazing to learn a lot about these creatures and even see the Calamian deers which are endemic to the country.

Overall, even if this escapade happened in 2018, I could still remember each and every activity we had. Thanks to technology I could keep soft copies of our photos and even have them printed in photobooks for a tangible souvenir!
