Visiting the river once I want to wash my dirty clothes, it's a thing of joy to me. This is because I stand the chance of gaining more advantage of washing with a relaxed mind on like a stream.

My first time washing at the River in 2024

There is a different joy when going to the river for washing. There you are about the see different activities happening as well as business going on.

The most lucrative business here is the packing of sand, via boat. The tippers are also carrying and everyone is busy with his/her activity.

Immediately I reached the river, it was early in the morning and the kind of cold that was coming from the band of the river was something else.

I immediately stepped down into the waters and started my diary. I discovered that the water was even hot that morning but the implication here was, when you come out from it, you will feel the kind of cold that is within the band of the river.

When you look at the picture above, you will see that there is due upon the face of the waters. This alone will tell you the volume of cold at the band of the river.

Even with this situation, men were working tirelessly without feeling the cold. I had to hurry up and round off my washing for me to leave the band of the river. Below is a picture of some of the clothes I washed.

The most important thing is, that many persons come from far and near to wash in Ikom River, especially during dry seasons. Very soon, many would come to the river to wash but stayed there till the evening before going back home.

But one thing about this river is that it's dangerous because very soon it might carry someone before it dries up. This has been its custom over time and parents normally warn their children to stay back but would they listen?

By next month, Valentine's would be celebrated. That is when you would see the kind of population that will come to the beach for the celebration.

In conclusion, my day was a success and I am very happy doing clean up at the beginning of the year. Thank you and I hope you found value.
