IMPORTANCE OF KEYS.jpg

Hi everyone, Greetings! I sincerely hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their time this week with friends and family. I'm going to talk about a significant topic today that I think you'll find incredibly helpful. One of the things that new steem members should know is keys and passwords.

Digital currencies must be held in digital wallets, much like how we keep our cash and credit/debit cards in physical wallets. Once you sign up for and get your Steemit account approved, it becomes a simple way to access a wallet for cryptocurrencies such as STEEM, STEEMDOLLER, STEEMPOWER, and TRON. You can acquire these currencies through your activities on the platform.

Just like the keys in real wallets, there are some keys in the steemit wallet that are important to understand. This means that safeguarding your account passwords is crucial, moreover the most crucial thing you should be aware of before joining Steemit.

Safe and Security

There are criminals who want to steal your account information and use it, just like with the majority of other websites. The practice of "phishing," where a person clicks on a link that takes them to an external website that tries to solicit their password, is one of the most popular ways to steal information. If you entered the password on their website or link, a thief can access your account and how to keep them secure.

Phishing attempts have not been unheard of on Steemit. Each time you enter your keys to log in, you should be careful. Verify that you are on steemit.com or another reliable STEEM-related website. Criminals can be cunning and alter or add letters to URLs, making it more challenging to realise.

The Master Password

After you complete the signup procedure on Steemit, the platform will generate your master password for you. You must store this password offline in a secure location. Using this key you can generate other important keys such as the Posting key, Active key, private owner key, and Memo key. Never lose the master password again by writing it down. You cannot get it back if you lose it. You should never divulge your private owner key, also known as your master password because it provides you access to every feature of your account. Do not, I say again, divulge this password. Put it in writing and in a secure location. Avoid keeping it in a password manager or online storage. When at all feasible, keep it offline. Only for your initial Steemit login or to reveal your identity should you ever contemplate using it in a browser.

Posting keys

You should not use the master password every time you log in, instead, you can use the posting key You can carry out operations using the posting keys that you often identify with other social networking platforms. You will be able to vote, comment on other people's blogs, and share blog articles.

In rare situations, your private posting key might be divulged to a third party in order to facilitate additional STEEM blockchain services that you can access. Keep your private keys private for the time being.

Active Keys

As I alluded to earlier, there are several actions you can do with your Steemit account that are distinct from those you may take with other social media accounts you might have. The majority of these involve wallet transactions. Your wallet will start to fill up with cryptocurrencies such as Steeme, Steem dollars, and Steem Power once you start to receive rewards for your blogs and comments. You should be aware that you can move these currencies around and carry out a variety of operations with them, including sending them to other users, transferring them to an exchange, and exchanging them between the currencies on internal and external markets. So it is important to know that you should not share this key with anyone at any cost, otherwise you can lose your valuable earned currencies.

Owner Keys

Many of the functions that the master password performs are also performed by the owner keys. The private owner key is not shown on the Permissions tab since it would grant all of the account access that the master password does. You won't have to worry about utilising the Owner keys as long as you have your master password saved offline.

Memo Keys

Memos sent on the platform can currently be encrypted and decrypted thanks to these keys. This will make it so that only the memo's recipient may read it. Be sure to save the private memo key offline with your other keys for the time being even if it is thought that this key may one day be used for Steemit messaging.

Some exchange companies consider these memo keys essential for their deposit and exchange services, so you need to enter the encrypted memo keys they provide.

So all new steemit friends are requested to note the above important points and follow them and are aware of the importance of keys and how to keep and handle them safely and securely.
