Sober (Live Music Video feat. Poison Jams)

in #music8 years ago

In February, 5 friends and I booked the Evergreen TV studio (CCAM) for a day to record this live music video. The idea was to use my system with Ableton and the CCAM studio to record a live set featuring Mac (stagename Poison Jams) and I, with projections cast on us and a green screen behind. In post, I keyed out the background to display various videos I had collected of the outdoors, friends, and some random stuff. This was my first time using the CCAM studio, and it was exciting to be using their cameras and green screen room.

Pictured: Roxy Boggio. Recording setup shown is basically my home setup away from home.

To create this, we had one steady wide angle shot from the back of the room, and two dynamic shots from different angles to the left of the stage and in front of it. Projections were displayed from two directions, so we could illuminate most parts of the set. All three camera angles were recording simultaneously for the length of the performance, and the switching and keying footwork was all done in post. This was our fourth take.

This song is one half of the two-song story about a drug-induced car crash near the end of Poison Jams' album LOST HOPE. You can listen to the other version of this tune and its partner song at: https://poisonjams.bandcamp.com/album/lost-hope

Performance: K0WSK1 / Poison Jams
Cameras: Sam Kunesh (@skuuun), Roxy Boggio
Projections: Anthony Jepson
Recording: Adam Perkowski / Dilang Duir
Editing, Mixing, & Mastering: Adam Perkowski

Pictured: Mac (Poison Jams).

Special thanks to Dave Cramton and Raul @ The Evergreen State College, and to any readers/watchers! I hope you enjoy our work :)
