Can a jobless student have a good time?

in #education7 years ago (edited)

Being a full-time student is sometimes really nice. Especially over the weekends.

Yesterday was Friday and because we can consider it as a part of the weekend, I decided to leave school right after the last lecture at four. It was a pleasant change after four days of leaving around eight pm. Why being at school from eight in the morning to eight in the evening, you ask? Because I prefer to do my studying in school so I do not have to take my books home with me. Eventually what ends up happening is that I barely spend any time at home at all.

No matter how busy I am with my study schedule, I love being a part of the campus. This school year, unlike last one, I do not have a part-time job. So much better but not necessarily more relaxing. However, I can actually take some time for myself and my family and friends. You may say I am lazy but I do not really care. I want to enjoy the final year of my study. There will be a lot of busy years ahead anyway!

As I mentioned before, I am trying to be more involved on campus. I want to connect with my classmates, professors, and other communities through volunteering and attending workshops. I have a position as VP Communication in my program's Student Council. We are in charge of the graduation ceremony, the organization of events and connection with first-year students and of course fundraising for all of it.

There is a busy year ahead of me even if I do not have a real job. I am looking forward to it and I believe that all the time spent at the campus will help me in the long run, especially when I will be looking back to the school days. Many students just want to finish and leave the school but no matter what way we all have to go through it. Might as well try to connect and make it a little more fun on the way.

Here is a photograph of my home Edmonton. Having more time on the weekends allows me to explore the city, take some photos and of course share them all with Steemit community.

How about you? I would love to hear about your student experience. How involved were you during your study? Did you make a lot of connections? Do you regret not being a bigger part of it? Or do you think that students are having too much fun and do not pay enough attention to the education part of the process?

Feel free to share your thoughts and thank you for stopping by :)

Good luck with your final year. With a little more time on your hands you won't be so stressed and you'll be able to focus on studies when you need to. I'm sure you'll do a great job this year. Keep it up!

I think your decision of not working is a hundred percent right. Like you say you will have a lot f work ahead of you !

My advice is to really soak up this experience because I can tell you that student life is definitely one of the most amazing times in life.

I worked the first two years of Uni, but then I was like " what am I doing "? I should spend my time to focus on my studies so that I really learn what I am supposed to which will help me to land the job I really want when i graduate.

My advice, study hard, but have fun and enjoy yourself, don't worry about work right now.

Students are not all the same, there is no universal answer to your questions. I think that some students are aware why they are there and they will success at the end, others will fail. Meeting many people and spreading the network of connections is important during the study, however the more important network will be built when you get your first job. Referring mostly to career and family life. But even this is not always the case. Some students have kids and partners and already get connections for their future job. My advice to all students would be, have as much fun as you can but at the same time behave safe, stay healthy and don't forget about study. The connections will come, no need to be possessed with it.

Nice point of view. I bet there is much more networking done once real job begins. If I would have troubles with my study and my marks would not be as good I would definitely focus mostly on my studying. It should stay a priority. Thanks @twister

Yeah I am in college doing BS in textile science. I m jobless steemit is the only way to earn for me. But i also enjoy alot. Basically happiness is not a reflection of money but its a reflection of joy and emotions. Have a good day @k4rinn

Money brings happiness too but I can wait one more year for that :D Good luck with your study, what jobs can you have when you graduate?

Many I can be a plant manager. lab manager, lab assistant, general manager, managing director. BTW sometimes i think that Ahh God why didn't I born in a rich house :D whenever our group go somewhere my friends pay for my bill. But one I pay them off in full.

That sounds good, I was more interested in what type of companies can you work. Oh well, things turn around for people that work hard.

Oh. Only in textile sector. But i can get many posts there. from a lower most to higher most. My salary would starts from 50K there in Pakistani Rupees. And that's a huge amount in Pakistan.

I see. That seems to be really good. It is smart to pick something that you can get a job at. Greetings to Pakistan :)

Sounds like a great plan for your final year. Being involved with PR, graduation, events and helping new students will be very rewarding and create great memories for you. Plenty of time for work down the line! In my college days I was on an athletic scholarship so all my extra time went into training and competing. I regret not having more time for regular student activities although I did build strong bonds with my teammates.

Thanks, @otage! I think it will be nice too. I am not a big sports fan or even less an athlete so any scholarships like you had, are out of reach for me. However, it is one of better communities to be a part of. And also a healthy choice :)

Yes better than hanging out with druggies! Ha ha!

yes, i have a time.

Time to study, party, relax? :)

U seem busy enough without the part-time job ^.^
