Overview of voters education Track Watch Network Pix
Voter education as the name connotes, is the combination of different processes to help the voter come up with informed decision. Such decisions to be made, are in line of, registration, location of polling center, using of electronic voting machine, how ballot papers and ballot boxes look like.
Voter education extends to informing the voter about the personality, pedigree and projects of aspiring candidates and how to carry out their choices accurately and effectively when voting.
Education of the voting public remains a popular and essential topic to democratic development. It remains a powerful factor in any democratic setting, which prepares and shapes people in the direction of voting wisely. This is achieved by educating the masses on the agenda of the participating political candidates.
If the masses were educated on what to watch out in politicking during campaigns, they would actually follow that direction.
In other words, people are expected to observe how the politicians are able to deal with issues or problems that constitute burden to our society. Actually, it is a high time that the masses understood that the manner of making vague promises, dancing and demonstrating on the platforms could be deceitful, yet very common with politicians.
Adoption of aggressive voter education takes quiet creativity and persistence, but is necessary to address issues of lack of political will to realistically address matters that require their attention. Voter education remains the basis for a successful election.
If the masses are made to understand that the functions of the politicians running for any political position need to be accessed.
In the absence of debates, intellectual argument, voter education, politicians can easily penetrate our people in the grass root/communities where hunger and poverty are more prevalent and win them over with money and other things. These election malpractices have dominated the history of elections in Nigeria.
Voter education is an effective tool in democratic dispensation and puts forward real issues for discussion on the following subjects; unemployment if the citizenry, infrastructural development, poverty eradication etc.
Politicians in Nigeria are fond of confusing issues to buldooze their way. Quiet a huge chunk of the masses are unaware or ignorant due to poor economic status and these actors tend to take advantage of this.
To set the ball rolling, Track Watch Network Pix, publicity, education and Enlightenment department stepped out focusing primarily on important national issues, mobilizing local chapters with a requirement of atleast 30 verifiable registered persons, have accessible chapter office with physical address, Email, phone numbers. This is, in addition to organizing periodic meetings and activities that drive news, such as rally, parades, picnic, publications, notices, bill boards, town hall and village square meetings etc.
Guides to meetings fall in this category; Prayer for leaders and the nation, Solidarity songs, Review of current issues affecting the masses, especially the downthrodden, less privileged, review of government achievements, and observations on federal, state and local government policies as it affects the local area.
Standing committees:
State working committee, Exco, Local Government Chairman, Head of Committees.
Executive Committees:
Publicity and communication committee, Marketing Committee, Contact and Mobilization Committee, Welfare and Social Development Programme/Training Committee, Disciplinary Committee.
Convinced of the ripple effect of these our efforts on the masses, our belief is in the statement of an English philosopher, Edwin Burke, who said; Those who opted to keep quiet or sit in the fence in the midst of moral crisis, the hottest place in hell fire is reserved for them".
The moral degeneration that is seen in our society today should be the concern of every body. It should not be left for the government alone. And besides, who is the government? Just a body of people elected by the citizenry to see to the day today administration of their affairs.
It is a fact, these set of people have been betraying the trust placed on them through corruption and other unwholesome practices that are not helpful to the development and growth of the society. It is not a good reason to back out in carrying out this onerous responsibility that has been providentially placed on our shoulders.
We should realize that there is no perfect society any where. Because these machineries if governance are managed or directed by mortals, full of imperfection. So, we all should conscientiously do our individual and corporate efforts to create a society where every Tom, Dick and, or Harry will have equal opportunity. Tribe, ethnicity, colour, race or religion should not be a determining factor in attaining any height in the society.
Each and every man, woman, boy or girl should come equal before the law. Status or class should not give one undue advantage. Neither should it put one at a disadvantaged position. A
Above all, all these rights and privileges, responsibilities and obligations should be clearly and unambiguously spelt out in the country's supreme document (constitution), and translated in the language every citizen will understand.
There is need for strong institutions like the judiciary, law enforcement agencies, ombudsman etc to whip into line law breakers when occassion calls for it without minding the person's status or connection in the society.
This is the right way to go, in order to avoid lawlessness, self help, chaos, anarchy etc. It would be recalled that most civilized and developed societies like Britain and France have unwritten constitution. They are governed by convention. Every citizen knows what to do at any given time. They love their country and can go to any length to protect their national interest.
The constitution of the United States of America is contained in just a three page document. Ordinarily, one would wonder how the mighty America that is the Policeman of the world does not operate a constitution the size of Modern Dictionary or any other volumunious document. Yet they are most orderly, peaceful with disciplined citizenry.
But, come to think of Nigeria with a rigid and volumunious document serving as out document, the content is majorly observed in breach by both the leaders and the followers.
Nigeria is not only facing moral and leadership crisis, but SPIRITUAL Dislocation, hence the resolve to contribute our little quota through the platform - Track Watch Network Pix.

@kaduru61,you have really made a nice post and the part you hit the hammer on the nail is
I hope that things will get well in this country soon.
That is indeed the greatest prayer of well meaning people. Let me reiterate that complacency is antithetical to the much development and progress all if yearn for. Look up to Saint Paul's letter to the Romans 13:1-5. The Holy writ does not lie.w
The bible made it clear that man has dominated man to his injury. It is only God kingdom that will solve mankind problem.

Whatever outcome from any conducted election , full of malpractices of all sorts . Even those who got queue to get buyover would still immediately said nothing . That left and elected candidate to often bragged upon his state of free and fair election . Deep down would know that lies.
