Evening market by the Robinson mall in Bangkok.
My favourite shopping mall is the small Robinson mall by the river in Bangrak district. The bakery section is quite good with several kinds of bread and pastries at very reasonable prices. But the highlight is the evening market next to the shopping mall. This Bangrak Bazaar is full of street food and a flea market selling clothes, electrical gadgets and household goods.
This is where working people with lower income could come to have a nice family dinner at the fast food stalls. The cost of a nice dinner for four person would be much cheaper than on regular restaurants. The grilled seafood here is very high quality and quite cheap. The street food includes all kinds of barbecue stick food, roti, crepes and ethnic food.
There is a very popular vegetable stall at the corner of the side street. The elderly vendor is amazingly strong and alert; she could lift heavy basket of onions or cabbages by herself. She could remember all the prices and she does calculation of your vegetables without a calculator! Her vegetables are about 50% cheaper than those in supermarkets.
The elderly vendor was very kind to me; she always gives me extra vegetable and she even treated me to ice cream on a hot evening. We often have chats about health and religion; I think she’s much fitter than me as well. There are also stalls selling snacks and sweets, smoothies and fruits. So, this market is really a heaven for people with little income to be able to eat well at a much cheaper cost. People in this area are very friendly and sympathetic as they also work very hard to make ends meet.
You could buy cheap mobile phones accessories and gadgets including pot plants at this evening market too. For big electrical appliances, the Robinson offers good choices at sale prices most weekends. It is always fun just walking along the stalls to observe all the new gadgets they have on display.
So, I hope you’ll have the opportunity to drop by the Robinson mall in Bangrak district of Bangkok one day!
Wishing you a very nice weekend.
See you.
