Poha - Ultimate street food breakfast
We've just got a cook at home. So breakfast and dinner is mostly at home these days. However, last 2 days she has been unwell, so I got to have breakfast outside today. I chose poha, something I absolutely love for breakfast.
The guy sets up a stall every morning on the footpath and is a young lad so I decide to give him business. It was also my go to place before I had breakfast.
As you can see it's raining but nothing deters these guys, it's BAU.
It costs INR 15 for a plate. That is US$ 0.20!
One box is Poha, other is upma and sheera. What poha is is rice flakes, stir fried with onions and soft peanuts. The idea is ancient - carb and protein for breakfast. It is topped with chickpea flour strips. So, its light, fluffy, tasty and crispy all at once. I would like onions to be diced further, but that's just first world problems.
I have tried many vendors of Poha here. I like this guy specifically. You got to try Poha for breakfast
