Good day everyone, I am really excited to write and share with you all about a computer laboratory. We know very well that computer labs are very useful to a computer scientist and today I would like to write on the do's and don'ts as well as some of the precautions we must follow when in the computer laboratory.
What is a computer Laboratory

A computer lab is referred to as a special room that is prepared and set aside for the safe installation and use of computers.

It contains computing facilities and other devices related to computers and is used for learning. Computer labs are generally created for public use purposes and they do have do's and dont's when you found yourself in there. Let's look at what a laboratory setup is termed.

What is a Laboratory Setup

Laboratory setup refers to the manner of arrangement and connection of computers in the lab. This arrangement tells the number of users that can be in the lab at a time. e.g. 100 computers mean that only 100 users can use the lab at a go.

The laboratory is also prepared in a manner that everything needed for the practical session is intact before the lesson commences. This means that internet connection is made available when necessary, needed software for the lesson are installed when before the lesson starts, etc.

Safety Precautions in the Computer Laboratory

Safety precaution in the computer lab is referred to us the necessary measures put in place to ensure that all the equipment and devices in the lab are kept safe without causing any damages to them. The following includes some of these safety measures or precautions:

  • Students must follow the directions given by the lab technician staff member

  • All the lab equipment or fellow users must be treated with the appropriate level of respect and care

  • Food and or drink is not permitted to be taken in the laboratory at any time during or after a lesson

  • Students should learn and notice the office ergonomic guidelines in order to sit in the right and correct posture when using the computer.

  • The lab should be kept clean and tidy at all times during or after lessons.

  • All bags must be kept in front of the laboratory before entering

  • Students or users should only use the computers that they are assigned to use

  • Computers should be shut down appropriately right after use

  • Never attempt to repair any hardware of computer in the lab instead report any hardware fault to your instructor.

What are the Do's in the computer Laboratory

The following includes the do's in a computer laboratory which should be taken good note of:

  • Reports accidents or fires to your instructor immediately

source

  • Notice the location of the fire extinguisher and also know how to use it as well.

  • Read carefully and understand how to carry an activist before coming to the lab to practice

  • Any exposed wires or broken plugs must be reported immediately to your lab technician or instructor.

  • Do shut down the computer appropriately when after use

What are the Dont's of the Computer Laboratory

The following includes the dont's in the computer laboratory which must be taken good note of:

  • Do not insert any metal object like needles, clips, etc into the computer casings as they can cause fire outbreaks.

  • Do not remove or take anything from the computer lab without seeking permission

source

  • Do not misbehave or play in the computer laboratory

  • Don't drink or eat in the computer lab

  • Do not turn on a computer without the permission of the lab technician

  • Don't also disconnect or connect any cable or plug from the computer without the permission of the lab technician

  • Don't open the system unit when there is power in it

  • Don' step on electrical cables or wires in the lab

Conclusion

A computer laboratory is a good and conducive place for students to learn and practicalize what they have been taught in the classroom. We know that before one can master the use of a computer unless he/she physically practices with the computer what he/she has been taught in the classroom. As a matter of that, it is very advisable for every student who doesn't have a computer at home, or even if you have, it is good that you once a while visit the computer lab for tutorials from the lab technicians so that you can master its use very well. We would halt and end our today's lesson here, I hope to bring more of such lessons in the coming future.

Thank you all for your time and attention. Have a nice day.

Thank you for sharing with us about the computer laboratory @kasib07 but i have a question. I wonder why food and drinks are not allowed in a computer laboratory?

Yes, it is not allowed because you the food particles as well as the drinks or water can enter into the key or even the system unit which would affect the computer.

Oh thank you so much now i understand the reason.
