Why You Should Do Things In "Batches."
A lot of people wonder how I get so much done in a day.
It's nothing outrageous. I do my work in "batches."
Your to-do list may consist of similar projects throughout the week. Your cleaning tasks, Your work tasks, etc.
Doing your work in "batches" and "Habit Stacking" Is a super efficient way of getting stuff done!
Habit Stacking With Cleaning
Cleaning can be a time-consuming task if we let it be.
So if you habit stack, you can minimize the amount it takes to get things done. When I do my cleaning, I clean my room, Rabbit cages, And bathroom at the same time. Then I can vacuum everything up once I'm done.
When I do laundry, I do dishes too.
When you combine habits, you can get things done faster!
Doing your work in "Batches"
Sometimes things get more complicated when you have quick deadlines.
Everyday I've been trying to...
- Write four posts
- Make 10 T-Shirt designs
- Ship necessary items to customers.
Sure I could make two designs here two designs throughout the day,
- Research 1 design
- Make one design
- Upload 1 design
And do this ten times!
This would take way by too much time.
Instead, - Research all the designs
- Make all designs
- Upload all the designs
That way it's faster. Also, I know if I have extra time, I'll make extra, So I'll aim for 20 instead of 10. Then I'll be one day ahead of my goal.
I do this with my posts too.
I decide what I want to write about, And I open 4 or how ever many posts I'm writing in my Grammarly account tabs. I then do any necessary research for my topics.
I then quickly write my rough draft in Grammarly. And then once I'm done, I proof read and spell check it using Grammarly.
I then go through and start gathering my photos for all of my posts.
Then I upload my posts throughout the day, Or within a 20 minute period. Whatever I'm in the mood for.
While bigger projects can't be done in one day, Like drawing coloring books. So with that, I designate 20 minutes or so for drawing the pages. Or if I have a whole day available (lately I don't ) I'll just spend all day drawing!
My goal with "Batching"
Four posts a day and 10 T-shirts has been a hard goal.
But ultimately I want to go crazy with it. And do 70 T-shirts in one day, then I can have a couple of days off to relax.
Lately, I've been working around the clock to get stuff done. Sleep has become a small inconvenience. I go to bed when I'm passing out at my desk. At different times everyday. Yesterday I went to bed at 11:00 A.m And slept until 6:00 P.m..
Then As soon as I wake up, I start up my computer and get going.
I know this isn't healthy, that's another reason I want to spend a whole day doing a "batch" of stuff Because If I can have a day or two off I'll feel better! LOL.
Batching saves you time! I don't know how much work I would have gotten done if I did things one by one! There have been days where I've gotten 30 shirts made, (not uploaded) Within a couple of hours!
So if your struggling to get ahead, Try batching!

Nice article. You might like a very interesting netflix documentary called "The Minimalist". It's about living a better life with less stress and minimal environmental impact by decluttering. We also have something in common art and that I use to have a t-shirt company. Much Blessings..
I need to watch that! I'm actually in the process of becoming a minimalist. I think it's a great way to live.
You should definitely continue the process, you'll see/feel the beneficial difference. I am a minimalist myself and for me it's great because the energy flow around the house is waaaay smoother, less obstacles and the difference is actually felt. I learned that from a Chinese philosophy called Feng shui.
Aww you practice Feng Shui too? I've heard of it, But haven't dug too deep into it!
I've gotten rid of about half my stuff and I already feel a huge difference. It's nice not having to "dig" for items that I need. I want to keep downgrading for sure.
Yeeeah 😁 I do, I strive to continue to reach my potential as a good human being for my self and the Earth as a whole so we can live in harmony. All the little things that we all do creates a real big thing like pixels in a screen.
Feng shui is great for me because it's about keeping the energy circulating in the house freely without stagnation. They both go hand in hand. Don't forget to watch "The Minimalist", your going to like it.
I was reading yesterday about Andrew Carnegie, how for a good chunk of his life he worked only until about noon every day, and still accomplished more than most people did in a week. Undoubtedly he was doing the same thing you describe. Great post.
Thank you for sharing these insightful tips @kaylinart! Looking forward to your next art post :)
Thank you :)
HEllO @kaylinary,
I really appreciate your work and would love you to meet my wife. She is new to seemit. If I may Introduce her.
She is new to Steemit but has a passion for Design and Photography. Her name is Sarah @sarahjanele she has just a humble modern perspective to her work that I believe you would enjoy. You two collaborating on projects together would be awesome being able to bounce ideas off each other.
This is one of her recent articles on steemit.
