Byteball DISCRIMINATION!steemCreated with Sketch.

in #steemit6 years ago

Hello Steemit.

I'm sure everyone claimed their Byteball and are happy about it. Well so am I. It was nice to receive some funds that I could invest in Steemit. And that's that.

Yet, I have a major problem here. Why is it that the more your reputation is, the more your reward is? I might make send to you but I find it pretty bad that minnows get low rewards and whales get big rewards. Now i know that they have been around for a lot of time and some have invested a lot in Steemit. And I honestly respect that.

What I found odd is that people with high reputation will definitely have a high amount of followers and will earn a lot by referring people. What about people with low reputation? I mean, We are committed to Steemit too. We just don't have a lot to invest in and we probably contribute to the community too. Wouldn't it be better if minnows got a better share as whales? My point is, most people who claimed Byteball exchanged it to Steem or Steem Power(Just like I did).

A lot of people will criticize my writing but try to understand my point of view before leaving a negative comment. $160 to someone with 70+ reputation and $10 for someone who managed to surpass 30. We all know that the phase from 25 to 40 reputation is the hardest right? But that doesn't mean minnows doesn't post quality content. They just don't have enough to boost their post to the top page.

Now imagine minnows got some $80. $40 in the smart contract and $40 to be spent. They'll probably store some and invest at least $20 in Steemit. They power up a little bit and they make their referral post and boost it with bots. They earn a few referrals and they grow on the network. How about those with 70+ reputation? They get $80 to be spent. They make a post, boost it with their already present Steem, and earn even more Byteball.

Now I know that the purpose of the airdrop is not to buy Steem but honestly speaking, Minnows are treated like they do not contribute to anything. This is a bad thing. Our post never reach trending, our voice are rarely heard, we have a hard time getting the required attention. Wouldn't it be good if we got a little boost instead of being discriminated? We try and we keep on trying. The thing is, a lot of people make money with Steemit. But some are here to promote the community. Respect that!

What i'm trying to shed light on is, people with high reputation will already gain a lot from referrals. Why feed them more when there are hungry minnows waiting to grow? We also want to have our voice heard. We need help more than them whales. With that, I let you guys conclude about what I wrote and hope to see you reacting below.

Just in case my post strikes a whale and I managed to make you feel bad about byteball, Here is my address. Share some with me if you are not greedy XD → GM7RMKQGRD5XDNWLI5ZA6NXZ7YHCMVVP

LOL how about this a whale bots his post to trending for $700 and gets $2000 worth of byteBalls in liquid Bytes....and probably $8000 worth 60Gbyte in cold storage:

Well. That's a hell of an earning. I wish I could get that kind of crowd to follow me :(
@dj123

use a resteem service for 0.2 to 1 SBD and get 10,000+ follows and put down $600-700 upvotes.....easy!

:P

@dj123 we all wish it was that easy :P

it is that easy, got nexion bank borrow 600 SBD say you will pay back 800 SBD in 1 month time and go do it, nobody stopping you from getting 5, 10, even 15 Gbyte in 3 days time....don't know how much you will have in 30 days...but the upvote from bots alone will pay the bank interest :P

I totally get the point and I know it is frustrating. On the other hand we have a lot of minnows pass through drain some rewards and get bored and leave. Many who are 70 also did all the things you are talking about. We made posts that got ignored, we commented, we engaged, we bought in. I've been doing those things for 2 years.

Consider it from a different angle. Consider grinding for 2 years, just to have a brand new user come in and gain a benefit larger than yours.

I hear you though. I really do.

I understand your point of view. It's not cool to strive for what you earned and see someone getting a shortcut to it. Yet, $80 won't get a minnow to 70 reputation right? But i totally respect your view and I want to point out that I'm not frustrated. I got $20 to spend and I'm happy. But I was thinking about my friends below 50 reputation and I kinda felt bad and wrote a post about it. @whatsup

Sure, it's just a conversation. I'm not at all upset. :) I do hear your point!

I'm fine with a new user getting more views or votes. As Steem is still small and people with massive audiences will come in the future(hopefully), thus all our stakes and vested shares rise in USD value. I'm a fan of building up others for this reason.

Yeah, it's a rough grind anyone who has done it understands how much even a little help and support matters! I get it!

I made 95 posts that didn't earn a thing. Not in a row. When I started there was a curve in the reward pool. The more people who voted for you the more you earned, combined with curation rewards, the effect was everyone on the site voted for the top 12 articles. It was different, but still really hard.

I am not trying to Out Hard you, I know it is really tough right now too, and I also know we don't have enough users trying to engage.

It is a phase and the tough will make it.

Well, brother, It takes a lot of time and hardwork to reaches above 50!
so Better the hardwork, bigger the reward. You can also get the big reward, work hard and reach 60 plus!

@abdulmanan I never meant that it should be easy. I respect hard work and I don't mind taking the hard way to climb the ladder. But I kinda felf bad for people below 50. Some of them really makes an effort yet, they don't get the required attention.

It's because of cheaters. Actually, those with 30 and 40 rep that haven't joined the airdrop will see their rewards halved because of spam accounts that were made to cheat the system. So that's why the rep system was made.

Maybe its just a early-bird thing. Those people who joined steemit 2 years ago and bought steem for some cents a coin, now have a high reputation and a lot of SP. 2 years later it is hard to get in and increase your repu. But hey, steem ist just the beginning of blockchain based networks. Maybe we can early-birds too. Thats why it could be an good idea to invest in trx or eos. New social networks will come based on these and other blockchains. Maybe steem will be king within the next years, but maybe it will be just one weak player among bigger networks...

I personally believe Steemit will make it to the top since we already have a big number of users. You know?
It's just that it's still quite complicated to use for some and they give up early. Still, Only the tough survives but Steemit will be on top, that's for sure :D
@butt3rcup

Maybe u are right :-D We will see. In any case it will be exciting

The reason why is simple. It cost 6 steem to open an account. One can open an account and bidbot (mostly just posting spam with no value) the account to higher reps and open 1000s of accounts just for this purpose. This is the reason. It is true that whales can bid bot to buy rep. While DAPPS will also exist in the future to adjust rep, so you must wait and push for the dapps to adjust users who used the bidbots rep if this bothers you a lot.

@gray00 Can you please explain what DAPPS is? This slipped my mind though. That's a good point you mentioned. Thank you.

It's just a short term for a front end like steemit.com or busy.org for the steemit blockchain or any blockchain that works. Steem being the only one I know of at this moment.

@gray00 I see. This sounds interesting. I hope people gets more committed to join Steemit and doesn't quit early.

seems steem was used as a promotion platform to introduce...and they reward according to the rep...it's was away...of course there is much better ways, after the fact...but its done...enjoy your reward and be grateful...good luck to all...IMG_3401.JPG

I am enjoying my reward just like everyone else :P
But like you said, what's done is done. Better let go of it xD
I can see you fish. I caught that fish a lot of times. Even bigger :P

25 to 40 reputation phase is not the hardest at all, it gets harder (or more expensive) exponentially and that's why there are higher rewards for higher reputation, because it would not make sense to buy upvotes to get that high.

30-50 reputation originally had higher rewards, a lot of people with lower reputations got their higher rewards before the rewards were lowered because of abusers. I don't remember exactly how many were attested when that happened, but I think it was around 20k, now it is almost 50k.

So, there is NO discrimination, just simple math to make it not profitable for abusers who upvote their reputation up. It doesn't make sense to buy your reputation up when you have over 50 because at that level, getting even higher costs a lot more than the rewards give.
