Wan's Story

in #animals5 years ago

Wan (which is Thai for sweet) is one of our most recent additions to the kennel club.

She is only about 7 months old and is so very sweet! She was brought to us by a worried visitor to the region. She is very thin and sadly has suffered some kind of head trauma, which has caused severe swelling in her brain. Wan cannot balance her body well and is generally very confused.

We are looking for a home for her. Her condition is improving and the vet is optimistic the swelling in her brain will continue to go down and she will regain her balance. Wan is particularly scared of the world around her at the moment, she needs a gentle type of person with the right amount of patience to look after her. She isn't mean, she is simply afraid of most thing and this is one of those situations where it becomes difficult to find a forever home.

This is a real problem with many of our rescue situations and for some reason this is particularly true with cats. It seem that even though most people do have a kind soul towards animals they would prefer to have one that is in "perfect shape." I'm not judging anyone because I can relate to this notion. However, it does end up being one of the battles that we face here at K.A.W. because there are only so many animals that we, ourselves, can possible look out for.

One thing that we have always promised is that we will NEVER toss any of these animals out, but as our kennels remain full it isn't possible for us to take on any additional boarders. We have been doing pretty well as far as relocation is concerned but "Wan" is a special case. Because she doesn't have a "proper tail" people done want her. It's not funny, but when we are considering which kind of cats we are going to house, we really DO need to consider what they look like when we are making this choice. It's a shame but that is the way it is.

Great work !
Greetings!
@tipu curate

I am a real sucker for animals needing homes and have a small zoo already. All three cats were strays that landed with their arse in the butter literally. They fit in well with the dogs and are capable of looking after themselves as no other cats come near them. Lets hope a loving home ca be found for Wan.

I get what you mean about the cats with those snub tails. I had never seen a cat like that until I moved to Asia. Didn't know such a thing existed. It is understandable that Wan would be more difficult to find a home for because of this: Tragic.
