Steem and Steemit In Depth by James Reidy (aka @Riverhead)

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

James Reidy (aka @riverhead) gives a in depth talk about Steem and Steemit. The talk is a technical overview of the system and how it works from a nuts and bolts perspective.

James is a prominent witness in the Steem ecosystem, as well as a member of the alpha dynasty for MakerDAO, and CTO of Mecon Capital.

Most of the examples from the video can be found here:

The video says we have a split of 50% (for the author), 25% (for the curators) and 25% (for the comments). It's not true IMO.

The above is how it was meant to be at some stage, but not how it is currently arranged in the system.

The current split is as follows: 75% to the author and 25% to the curators (nothing goes to the comments, they are incentivized independently).

split is

author 75% (splitted again into 50% SBD + 50% SP) <-> curator 25%

Correct and that 25% curation is very small for us minnows lol

This is not getting nearly enough love.

Nice presentation!! Thank you for featuring us in your thumbnail :D

Great video. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Great post! Loved your video!

voting power i think regenerates within 24 hours.

Bandwidth does but voting power is a linear 5 day regeneration.

Wow. Great presentation on the guts of Steemit. Thank you. I was wondering how all that stuff was configured.
