Bali Provincial Government Wants Strengthen Modern Theater Development
Denpasar - The Bali Provincial Government wants to strengthen the development of modern theater and expect more and more young people in Bali who are interested in the art of drama.
"A modern theater play that raises a lot of social criticism, will also sharpen our children and young generation to be always critical of social phenomena," said Head of Bali Cultural Office Dewa Putu Beratha when opening Workshop on Character Modern Theater of Bali, Denpasar, Friday afternoon.
Bali provincial government, he added, not only trying to accommodate traditional arts, but also modern art, including the theater. "Theater is a form of art, and modern theater is also not out of characteristic Balinya," he said.
Therefore, through the workshop that was held for three days, it is expected to be utilized by the participants (from school and art community) as Bali as well as possible.
"Moreover, the speakers are the maestro in the theater, so we expect the modern theater in Bali will be parallel to other theaters that developed in Java," he said.
Furthermore, it is expected that the cadres of the theater will be developed in their respective communities. "Thus, theater can be one of the art space for our young people," said God Beratha.
Meanwhile, the playwright Abu Bakar who was the speaker in the workshop did not deny that the development of modern theater to date is not as strong as traditional theater that has complete form and grip-pakemnya.
"While the modern theater is still looking for and its development is not as good as the tradition that has been rooted," he said.
Abu Bakr sees one of the weaknesses of modern theater development because the younger generation can not wait to learn from the basic level.
"The younger generation are also often impatient, wanting to leapfrog in the future, not with the flow of realism that raises simple problems.The younger generation wants more complex issues, but unfortunately the message raised becomes not to the audience," he said.
He added that the flow of realism is the basis of the theater and for depth the players must read the script, be able to see, behave and build structure.
"With this workshop, we are pumped, given the blood to raise the modern theater, and we need more training," he said.
In the opening of the workshop was also filled with theatrical performances entitled Pinangan by the Lotus Community whose players are mostly experienced blind.
Meanwhile, during the three days of its implementation will present the speakers of the Chairman of Listibya Dr I Nyoman Astita, playwright Abu Bakar, AA writer Sagung Mas Ruscitadewi, and Putu Satria Kusuma.
