Chronic Pain, an Original Poem & Art by. KidDarko
Chronic Pain
by. KidDarko

I would like to share with you my first attempt at a poem. For inspiration I drew from a very personal place within which is chronic pain. I have been suffering from back and rib issues everyday for about 5 yrs now. This is the best I could translate my experience into words. I usually speak with pictures so I added a drawing as well.

Thanks for viewing my post

yes its not fun living with chronic pain. i myself suffer from inflammatory rhuematoid arthritis and its a daily struggle. Good to see you are using your pain in a positive way by expressing it in art. being positive can be more powerfull than pain killers i find. although its not easy to be positive when in pain. keep on keeping on my friend.
upvoted and followed.
Thank you @pcste . I just had a full week long episode with one of my ribs and its now just becoming tolerable. I agree staying positive is your best weapon against the pain. I wish you comfort.
When reading this, I immediately thought of when I was going into preterm labor. I was having complications for a while and many people were determined that I was simply weak minded. Pain like what you're describing becomes liveable but it certainly doesn't make you living. From the outside, people consider it the norm, not realizing how truly serious a situation is before it's too late.
That sort of pain is debilitating and deteriorates the quality of life. Thank you for opening up and sharing such a deep piece of yourself. I hope you get better.
Thank you meladynne. You seem to truly understand.
Very very good!
Thank you paper-pecado
Awesome! I feel your pain , in your poem and in your drawing! Well done! 👏👏👏👏👍😉
Thank you. It feels good to share and express :)
Chronic pain is an invisible demon that haunts many but most won't talk about it often, or at all. If you wouldn't mind talking about it, what kind of pain is it?
I have a chronic sensory issue as well, and living with it I gave up trying to fix it. I still don't understand it or its origin.
Sure pfunk. I have severe rib and disk pain that goes from the top to the bottom of my spine and from my spine to my sternum and along the ribs. It's uncomfortable to sit or stand or really do anything most of the time so I try to stay distracted. Steemit has actually helped a ton with that. My rib issues stem from 2 different places. First is basically bad posture while tattooing for 15yrs, I cleaned up my posture the past 5 yrs for a total of 20yrs professional tattooing. Next is genetics, My ribs seem to be too long for my body, this causes a strange angle the ribs follow and makes them "stick" together meaning the rib muscles tighten and pull the ribs together. My disks stem form 2 separate issues as well. First issue is the same as the ribs and is just from yrs of bad posture while working. The second issue is what has made my life a lot harder over the past year. I was pushing my wife's car into our garage and slipped a disk in my mid back. Before this happened I had a good hold on my pain tolerance and was managing the pain pretty well. I even had some good days and even some 3-4 day periods that I was fairly comfortable. At the time I felt like it was really bad but now I know what it means to appreciate the health you do have. Not a day has gone by since December 2015 that I haven't been in at least moderate to severe pain. I take a more holistic approach to my care and try to stay positive, eat healthy, stay out of drama(stress) and relax as much as possible. I do physical therapy, massage therapy and chiropractic adjustments as well. With all this being said I am a happy and positive individual, I am empathetic, caring and helpful. Staying motivated is key. Thanks for asking and reading.
I think it's an excellent first appearance of your poeticism.
It's the key really...to write from that deep well. My favorite writing quote is: Write hard and clear about what hurts - Ernest Hemingway. You did that in spades ;)
Thank you so much. I honestly have no idea what I'm doing and appreciate the feedback
