Escape From Tarkov: The Most Realistic & Bad Ass FPS Game Ever Made!
( above is the Escape From Tarkov logo from their website )
Are you a fan of first person shooter games, into gun customization and a sucker for a hard core action featuring a "keep what you kill" type of game play pitting you against both AI and player characters on large maps? Ever heard of Escape From Tarkov (EFT)? If you're into a CRAZY intense shooter game that more often than not completely murders you, regardless of your skill level... Perhaps consider checking out www.escapefromtarkov.com and purchasing their upcoming game.
Not a Game for the Weak or Call of Duty Pussies
The Escape From Tarkov game is set in the fictional district of Norvinsk, which is very much modeled after some place in Russia. After the local government allowed a fictional UK based company called TerraGroup to come in and set up laboratories it was found out they were doing illegal activities so the Russian government created a task force known as B.E.A.R in the game to go in and wipe out their activities. The TerraGroup responded to this by sending in their own private military corporation known as USEC to wipe out the B.E.A.R threat and thus the Contract Wars began in the region, ultimately leading to the city of Tarkov and surrounding area to become unstable.
In EFT you can play as a USEC contractor, B.E.A.R operator or local Scavenger in many different maps, trying to survive and Escape From Tarkov.
You have your main character, which is either a USEC or B.E.A.R that has access to your stash, which is essentially like an inventory or bank type system similar to that in many MMO type games. The items, guns or loot you pick up during your main character games or raids can be stashed here for later use, or to trade with the games many vendors or on the online market place. In addition to this you can also play as a Scav character, spawning with a random load-out and weapon every 30 minutes or so if you would rather not risk your main characters items, If you manage to not get murdered by a USEC or B.E.A.R operator as a Scav and a fellow player Scav doesn't murder you on extraction you'll be allowed to keep any loot you have found... And deposit it into your main player stash as payment for not being turned into a corpse...

Raid, Kill, Loot, Extract, Stash, Repeat
EFT is very much an intense loot driven game, given the fact, as mentioned above, that all items on a person persist in the world after death but the person being murdered doesn't get to keep them (unless they purchase expensive in game insurance and the items aren't looted) which not only adds to the realism of the game but also makes raids interesting given that every time you play as your main character you run the risk of losing all your guns, ammo, equipment and loot on the character if you're gunned down. Not only this but the maps are generally populated with other USEC and B.E.A.R characters, collectively called PMC's (or private military contractors) not to mention Scavenger players both controlled by players and AI. The Scavengers (or Scavs) tend to be quite "dog eat dog" and player controlled scavengers will often prey on their AI controlled team mates to gear up while they wait to engage PMC players to murder them for their equipment before extracting with the loot.
A vast array of gear, guns, ammo, and loot exist in the game offering thousands of combinations of equipment to enter raids with to those that can afford it. Gun customization is absolutely next level with individual parts of all the guns in the game being able to be replaced with whatever the player prefers. Once a player reaches level 5 on their main character they have access to the flea market which features items listed by other players, essentially creating a player driven market.
As mentioned above the gun customization in this game is absolutely next level. The pictures here do it no justice in regards to the amount of gun parts, ammo and mod configurations that are possible in this game. It's absolutely staggering the amount of time and in game currency that can be spent on modifying weapons to suit your needs in this game. Each weapon and equipment item has durability and can be repaired while not in a raid not to mention weapon stats are modified depending on what sort of stuff you've done to your firearms. The system for modding weapons is unlike anything I've ever seen in any video game in regards to how in depth it is.
Sure, You can Run-n-Gun.. But Chances are You'll Get REKT
This game really makes a player think and use strategy more so than other games like CounterStrike, Call of Duty or Fortnite.. Given that damage models are quite realistic and stuff like body armour really makes a difference in the game sometimes it may make more sense to not engage a well armed and armoured enemy, or use ambush tactics at popular spots in the map instead of just running around willy-nilly not worrying about getting shot like in other games.
Beyond the mostly realistic modelling of the gun and armour physics each individual part of the body has it's own health bars. Parts such as arms and legs can be broken by incoming bullets and stuff like bleeding out or getting damaged by trying to sprint on a broken leg that hasn't been put in a splint are very real dangers in EFT. Different healing items like band-aids, morphine, stim-paks, medical kits and other stuff of the like are needed to patch your character up while in a raid. Some of the most intense moment in the game can certainly stem from trying to heal your injuries behind some cover as enemy bullets ricochet around your head.
Lots of Different Maps and Battle Types to Explore
While the final version of the game is intended to have the entire map one big open world as the state of the game currently sits many different smaller maps are featured in the game offering a wide variety of combat engagement types and experiences. If you're into close-quarters combat (CQC) maps like Factory and The Labs offer a great indoor, up in your face style game that has large amounts of players and AI in small close quarters situations. If you're more akin to trekking through the forest or through wide open areas maps like Shoreline and Woods offer a great experience, often riddled with both player and AI snipers. The map Interchange has players exploring an large abandonded shopping center / mall and can be quite a thrill when you engage a contact and have to use store fronts as cover. Depending on your preference and play style the game offers you the chance to play maps that are your preferred element without forcing you to play on raids you'd rather not.
All and all Escape From Tarkov is one of the most rewarding and intense FPS games I've ever played in recent years. The learning curve is quite steep, the game can be incredibly frustrating at times if you're murdered with good gear on.. But all and all the adrenaline rush the game provides when you survive a fire fight or extract from a raid with a bunch of sweet ass loot is what keeps me coming back. While not a game "for everyone" I certainly recommend checking it out if you're into hardcore FPS!

Looks great I'm really good at these kinds of games
It's fun as hell, very intense.. Lots of getting murdered and cussing.
If you end up picking it up, let me know. We can raid together.

The only problem with it I have is the Unity engine :/ The graphics outdoors look quite dated which kills the immersion for me. But it's still in development so hopefully they'll fix that :)
They just updated to a new version of unity.. Made things a little prettier.. The real problem lies in the resolution of the tree and grass models they deploy.
