Steemit.com Search Function Broken? Have No Fear, Work Around Inside..!

Are you frustrated that the Steemit.com search function is returning nothing (because of a 404 error) when you type something in? A quick work around to this is to actually go to google.com and instead of just regular searching add a simple steemit.com: then the string (or text) you are looking for and get basically the exact same results you would have if the Steemit.com search function was up and running. This also works for basically any website if you replace the Steemit.com.
Why is the Steemit.com Search Down?
Well, to be honest I haven't the slightest clue why their search function isn't working.. However I do know by a quick look at chrome tools that the server the search is supposed to contact appears to be coming back with a 404 error...
Could simply be that the server in charge of linking up google searches for the blockchain is down. It will likely be back up today or tomorrow is my guess. Alerting the Steemit Inc team as of writing this post just to make sure they know whats up!

steemit's search function has been broken since the beginning.
It should be very easy to search for a topic by a particular steemer and find those post... but no, its almost impossible.
It should be very easy to search for a topic and get the latest in that category, but you basically have to know how to edit the URL manually.
lol, yeah.. It could have certainly been approved upon. However has fallen to the back burner me thinks.

Yeah.. Kind of sucks.. Although fun fact the Steemit.com search was google based and basically did what is listed above.

There are alternative search engines. Therecare two on blockstack. Only one of which i have tried, Searx. If your interested in knowing more let me know. I will get you the info as soon as I see responses.

I don't mind taking your downvote hit if it helps people search on the STEEM blockchain when the Steemit Inc search page function isn't working.
This is a PSA that was upvoted by minnowbooster in order to maximize visibility.. With that being said if you wish to punish me for trying to be helpful so be it.. shrugs
edit: #newsteem isn't going to have anyone on it if we're punishing people trying to help others.. Having a user/witness spend their own money to increase visibility on a post outlining a work around to services currently out seems a bit cruel or shortsighted.. :/

You shouldn't view it as being 'punished' for anything
I'm merely using my stake to try to disincentivize people from buying votes which strongly undermines organic curation
When this was the norm before the latest HF, most stakeholders, myself included, resorted to reclaiming their voting rewards somehow (selling votes, self voting, voting circles etc.) The economic incentives favored this so much over honest curation that the system was unable to correct itself.
This is no longer the case under the improved economic incentives of NewSteem. Many have chosen to take an active stance against these old behaviors that completely eroded our platform.
An community leader like yourself with an established following should be confident in their ability to bring attention to what they have to say without the need to contribute to undermining our proof of brain system by buying votes.
As to the actual post itself, the information may be of use to some, but I did not deem it to be worth $60

I wouldn't say the platform is completely eroded but we certainly haven't been flourishing as we should be, as to who is to blame here or what actions caused this I'll not speculate on now.
