LEAVING OR LIVING
I have lived a while on earth
Seen peers come and die too soon
Most lived fulfilled lives, the others died invisible
Resting in piece since they left incomplete
Leaving or living
Fighting wars that never existed
Borne out of the boredom of fools
Striding down damnation
With false hope, as side-kick
Leaving or living
They say the have minds
But delve deeper into folly as each unwinds
How can they say they see
Their lives weren't meant to be
Leaving or living
Laden with such strong might
Clarity and purpose in sight
Hope may truly find them
If they'll choose and stand firm
Leaving of living
Life is actually in a hurry
Avoiding those who just want to scurry
Intense speed yet so decisive
To make do with the few that are incisive
Leaving or living
Why wait to have it come
Seize it's attention and bring it home
It sure is a servant of which you are Lord
To do as you please, bound by a cord
Leaving or living
I have your attention, do you have mine
Take now this eight, make it a nine
Tell me you made it, with scars I can see
I'll hold your hand high and walk on the sea
Leaving or living
by yours truly

cheers

thank you so very much
Lots of strength needed for living, we all carry the scars emotionally and physically. It is beautiful to have support in the roughest patches in whatever form that takes. Very poignant poem. Brilliant.
THank you so much @hopehuggs.
Sometimes we can be the strength that others nees, kind words, a little benevolence and an interest in someone can assure the person of a life worth living** instead of leaving
Living is pretty awesome a thing.
I can not say I always felt that way and have been closer to kicking the bucket but after coming back from those depths I must admit that waking up every day is pretty awesome.
@fknmayhem true words, but you know... to get the best outta life, you have to move beyond just being grateful for seeing another to being thankful that you have a chance to impact a life and change the world.
Thanks once again.
You have to make sure you know people before commenting in that way. Otherwise, it may come over as preaching or your comment may even be read as a platitude. ;)
I've fought wars to improve the lives of others, more than most ever will dare to even dream of. It almost cost me my own life, it almost cost me jail too. And I would do it all over, without a second of hesitation. Even if it means a similar outcome. Because somebody has to stand up.
There would be only one thing different nowadays: it all made me smarter and thus more dangerous in my fight.
Other than that... f*ck, it's good to wake every darn day. And no, that's not gratitude. That's the result of a long and hard-fought fight with myself. Nothing like gratitude, just an awesome feeling every morning.
PS: I'm atheist. My grtitude is a different type of gratitude than that most often referred to.
