A Tour Around "Kastoria", GR

Hello everyone.

I was searching for some skate clips at my hard drive when I accidentally discovered a folder I was looking for a good while now.

Since I finally have my hands on these photos it's time to show you around "Kastoria" city which happens to be one of my favorite cities in Greece.

Like "Ioannina", Kastoria is also surrounded by a lake. It's quit different from "Ioannina" lake though.
Kastoria's lake is really clean and that creates the perfect conditions for wild life to flourish.

Kastoria's citizens really respect nature and as you will see at the photo bellow they have created the ideal conditions for both wild animals to be free and of course for us tourists to watch them at their natural environment.

There is also an awesome place to relax and watch the sunset right next to where the photo above was shot.

I spent 3 days at Kastoria city the last time I visited and I spent all 3 afternoons watching the lake and the sunset from this spot.

There was a festival taking place at Kastoria city called "Ragoutsaria" during my last visit.

Every year, from 1–8 January, mostly in regions of Western Macedonia, traditional Carnival festivals erupt. Best known of these is the Ragoutsária festival in the town of Kastoria whose celebration may date back to antiquity and whose name derives from the Latin word rogatores 'beggars', in reference to the beggars who could mingle with the rich in their masks.

I've participated in Ragoutsaria twice and it's a unique experience.
There are dozens of small music groups playing folk music and wandering around the city and everyone is following them while drinking and dancing!

The temperature is really low and the humidity is really high during January at Kastoria but that doesn't stop anyone from having fun.
After a couple of drinks and dancing no one cares about the freezing temperature!

Too bad I couldn't visit both 2019 and 2020 "Ragoutsaria" festival.
I still regret it to this day cause my sister @tel.empathy who studies there will move out of Kastoria this year.

If you are searching for an awesome destination for your next trip I highly suggest Kastoria city.
It's quit, beautiful, cheap and the locals are really friendly, especially if you visit during "Ragoutsaria". It's a HUGE street party!
