Rhythm and flow w/ Adora Tokyo!

Like most of us, I’m spending a lot of time at home. As a freelance artist that makes his living in extremely personal space, that requires travel almost always, I’m not getting a lot of work. Now, I had somewhat of a savings, which will certainly be depleted by June, but I’m been meditating on how grateful I am for crypto. It’s a force multiplier, because I have to edit these photos every day. It gives me a genuine way to earn an income each day, which is amazing. I haven’t posted on Instagram in almost a month! I'll forever be indebted to @mada for taking me down this rabbit hole.

Tonight, I sat down to work on a few photos of my dear friend Adora Tokyo. Minneapolis has this expression; “Big city, small town”. That’s very true. We are a metropolis, but you know of people and even bump in to people with some regularity. In the creative space of photography, over the years, I became one of the “…I know him”’s, and Adora was already one of the “…I know her”’s. In situations like that, it’s usually only a matter of time before those two people get together to collaborate. Our first shoot together was way back in 2014.

We’ve shot together a few times since then. Our sons have become friends, and I’m so proud that she’s included in my book, Dark Pinup. She moved to Atlanta a few years ago, but she’s back in Minneapolis often. Just as I was coming back from visiting @roadscape in early March, Adora hit me up. She was in town for a few days and we scheduled a spontaneous shoot. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, this was actually my last shoot until further notice. Here are a few captures from that evening.

I have a lot more to share with Adora. We know each other so well, we managed to get an incredible rate of excellent shots in a little under an hour. She’s a DJ and actress in addition to being a beautiful model and person. I’ll be editing tomorrow during the holiday, and trying to find time to write. I’m falling off the horse a bit, and each day that passes that I’m not in this story, I feel it slipping away from me. That’ll be my goal for Easter. This is our a rare time for us to step off the hamster wheel and pursue that impossible thing we've always wanted to do. Carpe diem, motherfuckers!
