Duality in Venezuela
Hello steemians!
A long time has passed since my last post. I am a developer and programmer, but I like to make this post to point out some things about my country, Venezuela.
Most of you have heard about this beautiful country, located in South America. Currently there is a crisis in Venezuela. When I walk on the streets of Caracas, I often see people that are scavenging for food from dumpsters and restaurants' dump bags... Like in almost every country, there are homeless people, but it is a horrifying picture when you see a person that have put aside his working suit, clean shirt to avoid to stain them and is on his knees looking something to eat before going to work, a person that has a job, a home, but it is unable to provide food for himself or his family even with his full-time job.
The people here are suffering, there is no doubt. But, on the other hand, nature provides hope, peace for whoever seeks for it in this chaos. Caracas was founded in a valley, and north to the city is located the El Ávila National Park. I like to journey in the park to exercise, enjoy the experience that the nature provides to everyone that enters the Park.
When I am El Ávila, I feel some kind of duality... From the mountain, I can see the whole extension of Caracas, and it is difficult for me to admit that just minutes ago I was looking at someone scavenging from another person's dump bags, that it is the same, unsafe city that I walk everyday... It looks so calm, so different.
In the park, one can leave those worries behind, and enjoy a walk, with nature at both sides of the road... One can see the mountains closer with every step.
If you keep walking, you can find yourself in the summit of one of the mountains, and feel the satisfaction of get there, sit on a rock and enjoy the peace that only the nature can provide with its outstanding, majestic views.
It is in these places that I feel duality about my country, about my natal city... To think that there is so much beauty and so much suffering just minutes away, even overlapping each other.
I hope keep bringing you this little pics and comments about the beauty that, even with the current situation, can help oneself to regain and/or keep that sense of hope and peace, to pull things through.
Have a nice day!
