Do you know that a viburnum is a national symbol of Ukraine?

I have come home from work just for a few minutes and decided to share with you some pictures I took in my country-house. Every country has its national symbols. It can be flowers, trees or definite animals. We have a national symbol of Ukraine too. It is a viburnum. There are a plenty of songs and legends in Ukraine which were devoted to this wonderful shrub. Beautiful girls were compared with a viburnum. It was a compliment to hear: "You are so beautiful as a viburnum." Nowadays, you can see the images of the viburnum on different posters around the country. This shrub continues to inspire poets and artists. My mom wanted to follow the Ukrainian traditions too and we planted a viburnum in our garden but unfortunately it perished. I forgot to mention that a broth of viburnum helps to fight a bad cough. But it seems this wonderful shrub does not like growing in our garden. That is why I took the pictures of the viburnum which grows in our neighbour`s yard.
