Formal Extradition of Assange Requested by U.S.

The U.K. has received the U.S. government's formal extradition request for Julian Assange. Assange is facing potentially over 170 years of prison life for the 18 indictments against him.

The whole case against Assange is an assault on principles a free society should strive to preserve. Chelsea Manning has chosen to stand against the tyranny and not answer any questions to a secret grand jury. Manning is in jail and will likely be there for months to come until the grand jury inquiry expires.

Some in the mainstream media have started to realize how far the U.S. government is willing to go to punish those who leak info and make them look bad. Now that is threatens their livelihood of being able to report leaked information, they care a bit more about Assange;s plight.

Assange is set to appear in court on Friday, but will likely only be able to make it via video from prison. The report about Assange's psychological state from Nils Melzer, the U.N. Special Rapporteur on Torture, is clear about a degraded psychological state. Melzer blamed the trauma of psychological torture on democratic States:

In 20 years..I have never seen a group of democratic States ganging up to deliberately isolate, demonise and abuse a single individual for such a long time and with so little regard for human dignity and the rule of law

"There has been a relentless and unrestrained campaign of public mobbing, intimidation and defamation against Mr Assange, not only in the United States, but also in the United Kingdom, Sweden and, more recently, Ecuador."

I've previously spoken about the likely real reason for the tortured psychological state is not from "democratic States". Assange has been dealing with that for years. The more likely reason for his alleged damaged psyche is from actual torture conducted on Assange in the past 2 months he's been held by U.K. authorities.

That would be of alleged torture with psychotropic drugs. This was first reported by Karen Kwiatkowski, a a retired USAF lieutenant colonel, farmer and aspiring anarcho-capitalist who ran for Congress in Virginia's 6th district in 2012. Kwiatkowski writes that her sources in the UK say:

“[Julian Assange] is presently under close observation in prison hospital because he has suffered ‘severe transient psychotic episodes.’ My source(s) indicate these episodes occurred after two sessions of coercive interrogation at the hands of UK and US officials. The source(s) stated the HUMINT interrogators used psychotropic drugs in the course of the sessions.”

Melzer may be just coming up with a reason for why Assange is the way he is. I don't see how his explanations could have resulted in the Assange we have heard about in recent weeks, compared to how he was before he went to prison. Being interrogated and pumped with drugs seems like a more likely explanation for what has happened to Assange.

Melzer's story has a second outcome as well, that of making it the "official" reason for the sudden traumatic psychological condition of Julian Assange. This covers up the likely other reasons which better explain the sudden reported trauma on his psyche. A question, does Melzer know what really happened and is helping to cover it up? Or is this what he honestly think happened to Assange?
