Insight *2: cereals a bit different

in #food7 years ago

Do you have a little more time in the morning?

Than how about trying out this breakfast?

You may have to start preparing the breakfast the day before. I know this sounds a little bit hard and exhausting but in the end it pays off!
First of all, choose some germinable crop you would like to eat and roughly ground it. About 60-80 gram per person. It would be of advantage if you possess a grain mill otherwise you have to do it with a mortar and your bare hands. But this will be extremely tiring!
You can add various seeds like chia for example. Let the grounded crop and the seeds soak in the water over night.
Of course it is possible to prepare all of it in the morning but you may have to wake up at least an hour earlier! Also pay attention to the crop you choose. Every crop has his own soaking period of time.

So here is my version with grounded spelt.
I already added another step here, sorry for that 😅.

Basically from now on you can freely add ingredients you prefer. Of course you do this in the morning so the fruits will be fresh! I will show you one possibility how I like to eat it.

In the picture above you can see I already added some raisins and goji berries for the sweeter taste. The next step would be to grate your fruits with a grater. Today I chose some khaki and apples. Normally it would be a pineapple instead of a khaki but unfortunately the store did not have any left...

If you are not living alone, ask your roommate, family, friend or whoever you want to help you. This will make things go a lot faster, easier and funnier. And you can enjoy your breakfast together!

By the way, we are making a portion for three persons so don't be confused by the pot 😉.

While the other one was grating the fruits I had to peel the pomegranate.... hell of work. Especially this one, freshly out of the garden. The fruits themselves were smaller and the skin of the pomegranate was harder than the one from the stores! But it's all my fault 😅. I love eating pomegranates therefore I have to peel it... Everything is fair about that.

When all the fruits are grated the result will look something like this:

I know, not very appetizing but wait until the end!

After peeling we take some nuts like almonds and peanuts and mince them with a blender. Also here you can chose nuts which you prefer.

Add them:

Now we only have to cut fruits like mandarins, bananas and kiwis in small bite-sized pieces and add the pomegranate. I would recommend you to use seasonal fruits. So, for example, in spring I like to cut some strawberries or cherries.
I now kiwis are not seasonal and not growing in my country (mandarins and bananas too) but I still like them a lot 😁.

Aaaand finished 😄!!!

I hope you will enjoy it if you ever decide to try it out! In my opinion it is one of the healthier breakfasts that someone can have. Especially because you know what ingredients are in your cereals. And it is perfectly for people like me who don't really like milk or are lactose-intolerant.

Wish you all great health! And...

I will do so ;)
That's sad... what kind of food do you consume?

In my part of the world food eaten is more starchy example is FUFU made of cassava and plantain.

I have to admit I never heard of such food before and first had to look it up. I think I would like to try it out once but every day is quite hard -.- Really sorry for that!!!

we boil cassava and plantain. pound them together and put some soup on it with fish or meat . Honestly it is a heavy food for heavy ladies like me. hahaaaa

But it sounds quite interesting for me, who never tried something like that! Maybe even I can try it out once in my kitchen :D But to find the ingredients here would be difficult I think... especially the cassava.

This is a very interesting recipe! Stay healthy my friend!
Hugs from Romania!
