Let's go eating *4: Oh how I love fish!
What is the best thing you can eat on the second Christmas day?
For me it is definitely fish !
I am a fish lover. It's not a secret. Living without being able to eat fish would be horrible. I know the fish industry is over fishing and all the facts about people eating to many fish products but I am really trying to eat less of it. The last time I ate some I can't even remember! So this post will be about a super delicious fish restaurant in Greece where they are fishing their fish on their own. It is only open during the winter season. Therefore I find myself quite lucky being in Greece at this time^^
The restaurant is called Οι κύκνοι (I Kikni) and means something like "the swans". A beautiful name for a restaurant which lies directly next to a natural reserve.
We arrived a bit earlier then lunch time so therefore nearly no one was inside. Good for us: free seating 😁! Aaaand we chose to sit next to the window to enjoy a beautiful view. Look:
From the inside there were a lot of tables around and even a keyboard. In the evening they love to play some live music! Unfortunately we were there for lunch and therefore without any traditional Greek music.
Anyway I kind of liked the furniture and atmosphere. It was modest and cozy.
Finally the food! We ordered of course some fish, more precisely, trouts. In Greece people prefer to order big plates and position them in the middle of the table so everyone can try out everything. I kind of like this way because in the end you just split the bill in even and everyone could try a little bit without ordering a whole plate for themselves.
In addition we had some normal green salad with bread and of course, every Greek loves it, Potatoes!
Now while writing I really would like to have a bite!
In the mean time some kids where playing around in the sunshine down at the riverfront:
I must say this was one of the most delicious freshly grilled fish I have ever eaten... beside of the one made at home^^.
But before we headed back home we ordered some crayfish as a take away. This one we would boil in the evening!
I was a bit sad because they were alive...
but they tasted sooo good! And now I feel bad again 😓...
RATING
I decided to apply a new category in my food post: Rating. Here I will give every restaurant a mark from zero up to ten. Ten would be more then perfect 😏.
Why not a whole 10? Well, I really loved the food and atmosphere but unfortunately they do not have a card. The waiter comes to every table and lists down the things that they are offering on that day. For natives this may be normal but for a foreigner like me it was impossible to understand even one thing. And on top of that almost no one can speak English good enough. I was lucky my company knew Greek otherwise I couldn't have ordered a thing^^.
Another thing I didn't really like was the bread. It looked tasty and fluffy but was hard and without any taste.
Nevertheless everything else was very delicious. The salad was great even though I hate dried tomatoes but these ones I loved! And the fish... mhhhmmmm... I can't describe it just try it out 😏!
As much as I enjoy fish, it just has to be turkey! Really great post, though :)
thank you a lot !!
Seems like not everyone is into fish like me ^^
Really like fish compared to meat, i must say you got goo taste. i really like the mouth watering designs on the fish. Off to the kitchen.
Me too :D I love fish and would rather take it than meat. Thank you very much :D
