Archisteem : Peculiar way of embracing architectural setting.

The Louvre, Paris, France.

Few years back, when i was planning for my euro trip with a bunch of close friends, being an architecture student feeling all excited to experience the real setting of great architecture in France and Italy, a thought came to my mind...

"what makes an architecture building stands out from its' setting?"

what really makes the Eiffel Tower so distinctive in its' setting in the heart of Paris? If you're guessing its the height, what about The Louvre that have quite similar impact despite its not a towering built? Or what makes Sydney Opera House one of the most iconic building in the world?

My spontaneous thought i was betting on was the 'curiosity' those buildings evoked through the contrast of forms, materials, colours, or scale of the building in relation to the immediate context of where it sits.

...and to appreciate architecture through works of photography,..

"..how can i compose my architectural photography to really capture attention and intrigues people's mind?"

Ive put my my goals to produce a set of photography series that would stands out, and accepted in a different way that could trigger discussions and ideas rather than just plain polished photography works of the buildings i was about to be visiting.. So i've come up with a rather peculiar way to capture them..

The execution plan required me to have actors that have a bold identity, those with the heart of lion, who will not feel embarrassed to do weird acts in public..

And i am blessed with this crazy bunch of acquaintance. :)

And so we went around Paris and then move towards Southern France, Cannes, and Nise until Monte Carlo, posing planking gestures on all their landmarks that we can get the hold on to;

It was not easy at all to pull this up. We were starred, avoided and even almost chased away by the safety officers in various places due to these peculiar acts that evokes curiosity among the passerby. But we took it as a challenge and to prove points discussed earlier.

The existence of the unknown triggered curiosity. Through a proper planning of conceptual and aesthetics, an architectural building impact to a place can be maximise and the work of art will create its 'place'.

Oh and heres some videos of the visit...:)

hehee thank you! :)

Most welcome!

lol I would have been one of those people that would have taken a picture of you guys doing this. Doing things like this kind of adds that extra personal touch to photos. Nice

right? it was really thrilling! those days were the days xD

I can see the security officers chasing you off. Lol. Nice photos.

hahaha thank you xD

Looks like you had fun with this project, and way to think outside the box! It's funny, I was in a group from an incentive trip with my wife's company last year. We traveled Paris one morning on a photo safari, taking somewhat goofy photos in some of these same locations. It was a blast .Great post!

yes we had! it was our young bloods those days where everything we do we want to make it fun! really hope those courage does not depletes when were getting older! thank you! :)

That is entirely up to you. Word of advice from an "old" man, keep practicing being bold and silly so you don't lose that spirit.

Dude, that was so good. I didn't expect the planking haha!

It's very tasteful photography and the scenes that you captured were spectacular. I have to say that my favorite one is of the balcony 'Monaco'. There is something about the angle of the shot that is very endearing.

Great work man! Very cool to see you considering what makes specific settings appealing.

hehe thanks man! the place itself is so beautiful any angle shot was already awesome! just some twists in composition and perspective can make it into masterpieces! :)

LOL! Planking everywhere! Hahaha

hahahahaha xD

Amazing picture! Good work man

Thank you! :)
