Gotta love those Enzymes

The Great Enzyme Party..

What are enzymes and why do we need them?

Enzymes are proteins that are initiate chemical reactions in our bodies. They are designated as catalysts, which are non-consumable substances that reduce the barriers or difficulties for chemical reactions to occur. In essence, they speed up all the minute and constant changes in your body from the cells outward.

Enzymes are highly specific to specific tasks in the body and of Vital importance for life as most of the cellular and tissue reactions are are assisted by enzymes. Without them these reactions would not occur in the correct sequence or timing needed for our biological processes. In fact they play a Vital role as they constantly regulate every part of your body, which include your tissues, muscles, bones, organs, and cells.

Life would not exist without them.

From your bloodstream and throughout every system in your body, from;

  • our digestive system
  • immune system
  • bloodstream
  • liver
  • kidneys
  • spleen
  • pancreas

But that's not all

  • your ability to see
  • think
  • feel
  • breathe
  • everything depends on enzymes.

Toxicity

The absence of enzymes in the body allow an environment where toxic chemicals can build up, or an essential biochemicals not produced. The end result is disease…and often death. Examples abound but none more pervasive and feared by people is cancer as low enzyme levels and cancer are always found together.

Essence of life

The more enzymes that are present in your body, the faster and more efficiently all body systems, functions and structures work. Enzymes are not "used up" in doing their job, but they are lost through normal elimination of waste from the body. As an example, your digestive enzymes are not used up or lost in the process of digestion. But they are lost by the elimination of digested foods as they are passed out of your body in your stools. This is why a constant intake of new digestive enzymes, (in this example), are needed to process your next meal.

When you eat enzyme rich foods (raw foods) and chew your food fully and properly. When you eat as such, the food enters the stomach laced with digestive enzymes. These enzymes would "predigest" your food for up to an hour and can break down as much as 75% of your the food without any assistance from the body itself.

Tips

  • Eat mostly raw, living foods - as raw foods contain tons of enzymes, the most powerful enzyme-rich foods are sprouted (seeds and legumes). This is because during sprouting the enzyme content is increased substantially.

  • Consume less - reducing overall consumption, as well as introducing more living foods, you reduce your need for digestive enzymes, which allows your body to put more of its energy into producing metabolic enzymes.

  • Chew food thoroughly - as it stimulates saliva production allowing these enzymes to work in your mouth, lessening the burden on your stomach and small intestine.

  • Avoid chewing gum - as it signals to your body it must digest something, so it wastes digestive enzymes unnecessarily.

Other Enzyme rich foods

  • Fermented Food
  • Sprouted Food
  • Papaya
  • Pineapple
  • Mango
  • Kiwi
  • Grapes
  • Avocado
  • Raw honey (enzymes from the bee's saliva)
  • Bee pollen
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Coconut oil
  • Raw meat and dairy

Now these are palatable enough right?
