Daily Prompt | Expedition
The expedition began faithfully following Murphy’s Law, which says that if something can go wrong, it will.
Thus, a 72-hour trip turned into one lasting nearly a week. It was 1998, and I was infiltrated in a journey with a Catholic delegation.
Although I’m Catholic by birth—since in this religion you don’t get to choose—I felt like a fish out of water.
The whole group, which wasn’t really my group since I didn’t take part in any religious activities, was eager to reach the destination to attend what they called the “Continental Youth Encounter.”
I just wanted to go back to Chile, and that was my entire heretical motivation. But I think God gave me a lesson—a rather harsh one.
To begin with, the bus was delayed 12 hours, which we spent crammed together on the hard benches of a parish whose name I no longer remember.
Although I lived just a few minutes away, I couldn’t go home to eat, sleep, or rest because every five minutes they told us the bus would arrive in ten.
Apparently, pious lies are allowed even in church. Finally, half a day late, the bus arrived—and if I hadn’t been so eager to return to that country, I would have aborted the expedition right then.
Because at one point during the trip, it broke down, delaying us another half day—or maybe more—since by then I had lost track of what day it was.
A bus trip from Asunción to Santiago is no short journey, and with the extra hours from delays and breakdowns, it ended up lasting almost a week.
When we finally arrived, the driver had no idea where the municipality we were headed to was, so we asked some police officers. When they heard “San Ramón,” they said, “Be careful—it’s one of the most dangerous places in Santiago!”
My vacation ideals were already quite diminished, now joined by the fear of being in such a “dangerous” place. But I was already there, and there was no turning back.
To complete my troubled expedition, I was the last person the host family came to pick up… which makes sense, since they had been expecting us two days earlier.
In the end, after overcoming all those mishaps, it was a very interesting experience—I met wonderful people—but nothing like what I had imagined. Everything was religious activities.
But that didn’t make me a more devout person. I think I wasn’t born to go to heaven! 😆
Yo sólo quería volver a Chile, y esa era toda mi herética motivación.

Sounds like my bus trip to The Czechoslovak, the bus driver drove us for at least eight hours through the Netherlands to arrive in Eindhoven only 1.5 hour drive from home! There the driver left the bus an no other driver showed up til.... (Don't ask).
Next that driver got lost (turned out it was the first time they drove over there).
Toilet in the bus not allowed to use, we had a pee and lunch stop but if course in some country with different valuta and no way to change our money....
And..and..and...
By the way, you can unsubscribe church. I did. Religion should be a choice and not been forced upon by birth or being baptized.
Be happy you won't go to heaven, I know I am. No intention to be surrounded by hypocrites and Epstein & co.
Thanks for sharing your miserable expedition. You managed to bring my own terrible one back alive.
This is a test. No way that CCC will start with these reports again.

Oh my goodness, was real, and there was more to tell but I guess that is better just remember the better part 😆
I agree with you, each person should adopt the religion more significant for each one, but better would be just a good person.
Thanks a lot for your support 😊
