Some of these deaths are so ridiculous and ironic, you may not even believe that they could possibly be true! Let me assure you, however, these are all real events that took place and these people really did meet these terrible fates.

1. Death by selfie

31-year-old Courtney Sanford's was driving her car listening to the radio when she decided to whip out her phone and take a selfie. This photo posted directly to her Facebook timeline at 8.33am and read 'this song makes me so HAPPY!'.

At 8.34, police were called to reports of a car crash. Stanford had been involved in a head-on collision that killed her instantly.

2. The Beer Flood

Beer lovers might look at this and go ‘Hell yeah! That’s how I want to go!’ but the reality was actually pretty horrifying.

The London Beer Flood occurred in 1814 when a giant vat at a brewery burst. This caused a domino effect, rupturing all the surrounding vats and causing over 323,000 imperial gallons of beer to gush into the streets.

The beer filled basements ​destroyed homes and crumbled a local pub, trapping an employee inside. Eight people died in this bizarre disaster. All of the ‘free’ beer in the streets led to hundreds of people scooping up the liquid in whatever containers they could. Some resorted to just drinking it, leading to reports of the death of a ninth victim some days later from alcoholic poisoning.

3. Death by Garbage

Two compulsive hoarders, Homer and Langley Collyer were found dead at their home in New York City when the mountains of possessions and waste that they had accumulated collapsed and trapped them.

The brothers had accumulated newspapers and junk items over decades of their lives. They even made booby-traps in their home to capture any intruders. The cave-in trapped Homer and caused Langley to crawl though tunnels of newspaper to bring his paralysed brother food. During one of these trips, Langley set off one of his own traps and Homer was left to die of starvation.

When Police finally found the body of Homer, it took another two weeks to remove the mass of garbage from the house. Only then did they find Langley's decomposed, rat chewed body just feet from where they had found his brother.
