More indepth analysis of Youtube learning guitar channel: Online Courses

in #guitar7 years ago

Today we analyze the second to the top search result for "learnguitar" on youtube from the other day. So the video in reference advertised a 21 day beginner course in 21 days. The video was 3 years old with nearly 6 million results. The info for the video advertised two websites presumable related to the course's brand it also had some file for download. I also searched youtube for a similar title to the video below, but with #2, not #1, to see if I could locate it--but it was not found toward the top of 239k results without quotes around the query and 0 with quotes around it.

The channel has a title "Online Courses" which implies it might be a general digital education initiative. In investigation the channel, the featured video seemed to be Accounting basics, with 229k views, and being 3 years old. The channel had 101k subscribers at time of inspection. The learn guitar video was the most recent video on the account being 3 years old. Scrolling through the rest of the video results it appeared the rest of the videos were on accounting having a few k views each.

The channel had 3 playlists, liked videos, the 21 day guitar course, with a different video that was moved as the only content in it, and an accounting playlist. The account was created September 3, 2014. The account had 6,687,959 views, thus the guitar video with 5.8 million views accounted for a supermajority of the account's views, which the rest of the account only did a nearly 900k views.

The channel about description seemed to only discuss the guitar classes, saying a 12 video course. The course appeared to be geared toward beginners. Interestingly the courses websites were not discussed in the about description. It is interesting that the last video, the guitar video is the bedrock of the channel and it dropped off after that. I wonder if the channel's creator understands that?
