It's time African youths get sex educated

The issue of sex is a topic that everyone still shy away from. In my country, if a lady is openly talking about sex, she is been labeled a slut. While the funny truth is that we are all hypocrite. We all do have sex and believe me, there is a need for us to be re-oriented about sex. Its time sex education is been give to a child from home; make them aware of the proper way to go about it and also encouraging them to abstain from it.
According to Wikipedia, sex education can be explained as

an instruction of issues relating to human sexuality, including emotional relations and responsibilities, human sexual anatomy, sexual anatomy, sexual activity, sexual reproduction, age of consent, reproductive health, reproductive rights, safe sex, birth control and sexual abstinence.

In the developed countries, parents’ gives sex advices to their kids and also teaches them to ways to go about if at all they want to do. But down here in Africa discussing sex is still inappropriate and its killing us. So many negative things have happened to youths down here In Africa over their lack of sexual education.

The issue of unwanted pregnancy among youths and teenagers between the ages of 14years-21years is on the rise this days due to the fact that many people lack the basic sex education and its affecting us badly and even furthering increasing poverty rate in Africa. It’s time we take a stand and organize programs to really open our eyes to issues relating to sex. Just the other day, a lady that as given birth to three (3) children openly said she only got to see what a condom looks likes recently and it helped summed up how far we have failed. One of the factors causing the rise of unwanted pregnancy is not protecting yourself while having sex and also not knowing what to do when someone mistakenly released his sperm in your virginal.

Another issued that have been on rise is the spreading of sexually transmitted diseases. The word HIV/AIDS, herpes, HPV (human parpiloma virus), hepatitis B are foreign names of sexually transmitted diseases out there in the world and it is sad that some people don’t even know that they exist. The diseases kill very fast and render people useless and also they are ways in which you could have avoided them in the first time either by sexual abstinence or usage of condom. Being aware of all this deadly disease should scare some off from even having an unprotected sex.

This post is to add to the existing knowledge of human about what sex is and to give us all a moral boost to be sexually educated. It’s time we in Africa stop stigmatizing people who are living with HIV some people have no idea how they got it and believe me, some didn’t even get theirs from sex and some were just unlucky. And also African parents should do more to educate their kids about sex, it will save them a lot and also making the kid to the abreast with his/her sexuality and also to have ideas about sex and also how to protect themselves if at all the urge to have sex becomes unbearable.
