The multiverse theory - are there really copies of us in other dimensions

Just imagine having copies of yourself in different dimensions, at each point there is someone like you doing the exact same thing you are doing, dressed as you, talks like you and even looks like you; wait a minute, it is you in another dimension.

This exciting theory believes that our universe has many copies of itself, in different dimensions, this version of our solar systems has many other versions, but we cannot see or perceive these other copies because they exist in a realm that is far beyond our reach.

Think of this for a minute that every possibility you can think of has already or will eventually happen. Just imagine a version of World War II where the Nazis and not the Allies won the war. Take for instance the fact that the US in some other dimension is still under British colonization. This is in fact too crazy for the ordinary mind to comprehend but quantum physics has an explanations for all these theories.

Parallel Universe (Multiverse)

According to some proponents of the Multiverse; multiple universes are also known as parallel dimensions existing in different dimensional planes. Our solar system exists in a system of bubbles that collide with one another to give birth to new universes. This creation and expansion process has led to the creation of infinite universes, known as the multiverse.

Think of our solar system: the sun, moon and the planets including ours – the earth as existing in a bubble, existing side by side with other bubbles having the same copies but different versions our solar system. These bubbles often collide with one another, thereby releasing energy, leading to the creation of other universes.

I am sometimes forced to ask myself if the collision of these particles could be the big bang scientist have often talked about, then if it is so, then this could only mean that this did not just happen once, it is a continuous phenomenon, but in the case our universe it happened only once.

Scientist have made efforts to measure the size of the universe in the hopes that it can tell whether the universe is flat or curved. A flat universe could only mean an infinite universe because each dimension exists on a plane which continues to expand at an infinite rate. However a curved universe in finite leading to what is known as a hyper sphere. This is to say that there is a point in which one end of the universe meets another, and this leads to a starting point and an end point.

There is a theory that exists known as the theory of inflation which believes that the universe began as very small particles until a form of energy came and made it rapidly expand, and it continues to expand at an infinite rate.

Levels of the universe

According to cosmologist Max Tegmark, the universe is divided into 4 levels, they are described briefly below

Level 1 universe

This is based on the idea that the universe in of infinite size and all copies of matter is one universe is the same as the other copies of matter in other universes. This simply means that there are same copies of our galaxy (our solar system) in other dimensions. That is to say that somewhere far beyond our cosmic horizon exists regions of space that is similar to our own. These parallel universes are governed by the same laws of physics under different initial conditions.

Level 2 Universe

This is also known as the inflationary bubble universe, it envisions parallel universe as a system of bubbles that collide with one another to create other universes. This means that the big bang which created our universe is not just one, but a series of bangs that created other universes. However, this theory points to the fact that life on our universe will one day come to an end.

Level 3 Universe

The level 3 parallel universe is also known as the many worlds universe. This theory is borne out of quantum mechanics and it holds that every possible version of a different event will occur in any of the parallel universes. Which means in any of the parallel universes the Germans never won the 2014 world cup.

Level 4 parallel universe

In this universe there are different laws for mathematics and physics. It could be possible that 1 + 1 is not equal to 2, it could mean something else.

This type of parallel universe puts forward a notion that our universe is one of many types of universe. This concept is almost the same the level 2 universe, but in this parallel universe each has its own physical and mathematical laws that govern its reality. Just imagine in one universe where space consists of stars, planets, the sun moon, gases e.t.c but in another, space is made up of just gases.

In conclusion

We used to believe in a Universe, ‘uni’ meaning one, which means, thinking was just us in a universe. However, recent finding suggest that we are not alone and we live in a multiverse. There countless other universes that make up our multiverse. Which means there are exact copies of us in other dimensions. It could also lead us to believe that every possible outcome of every life must occur at some point in a parallel universe.

There is a possibility that dinosaurs still exist in other multiverses, if this is true then there could also be a possibility that the Nazis won the Second World War. All these possibilities makes us question some of the teachings of religion, as some of this ideas, contradict some of the teachings of religion.
