Bireuen Government Will Build Pumping So Peudada Farmers Can Plant Rice.
Overcoming the constraints of water supply to 1,000 hectares of rice fields in 14 villages in Peudada District, which have not been able to plant rice for 2.5 years due to the damage to the Hagu irrigation embankment and dam.
The Regent of Bireuen Regency, Aceh Province, H Mukhlis, ST together with the Head of the PUPR Service Ir
Ir Fadhli Amir, ST MT IPM Asean.Eng and staff went directly to see the condition of the irrigation channels and water gates in Gampong Meunasah Rabo to be supplied with water sources through pumping.
"As an effort to be able to irrigate the rice fields of the Peudada community, the Bireuen Regency Government will build pumping using submersible pumps with water sources from Krueng Peudada as well. So today we went down to survey the location of the water source," said the Regent.
During the visit, he was accompanied by elements of Muspika, and Imum Mukim, Kejruen Blang Sub-district, community leaders. The Regent first walked to see the irrigation gate in Gampong Meunasah Rabo.
Then he saw the condition of the water source and the location for installing pipes and pipe networks in Kreung Peudada under the Meunasah Krueng suspension bridge, while also responding to the hopes of residents for the repair of the suspension bridge, the condition of which was starting to deteriorate.
"I thought about how to make farmers in Peudada able to plant rice again, even though farmers cannot plant rice twice a year, at least once they must be able to successfully plant and harvest rice. If we wait for the completion of the irrigation dam, it will not necessarily be finished in five years," said Mukhlis.
So that in order to supply water from Krueng Peudada to the irrigation channel which is only about 200 meters away, the Bireuen Regency Government will build a pump and pipe network on the banks of the Gampong Meunasah Krueng river.
"Therefore, that day I went down to the location to see firsthand the condition of the channels and water sources, what size pumps and how many electric submersible pumps are needed so that we can supply water to the community's rice fields and at the end of the year we can go down to the rice fields again," he said.
On that occasion, the Regent also hoped that after the pumping was built by the Bireuen Regency Government, the farmers would work together to help operate the pumps so that they could really function normally and continue to supply water to the rice fields.
Mukim Krueng, Hasbi Abdullah,
said that due to the collapse of the embankment and the damage to the Hagu irrigation dam building in Hagu Village, Peudada District, farmers have not been able to plant rice or have failed to plant for five planting seasons or more than 2 years.
The area of rice fields is more than 1,000 hectares in 14 villages, namely 9 villages in Mukim Krueng and 5 villages in Mukim Blang Mirah 5 villages. "We hope that with the visit of the Regent Jari there will be a solution, at least the community can plant rice even though it is not optimal, but there is an effort so that farmers can work again," he hoped.
Regarding the Regent's plan to build this pumping, we strongly agree and give our appreciation. While waiting for the construction of the irrigation network to be realized later.
If the pumping has been built, it will probably be managed together under the coordination of the Sub-district Head and later all village heads in the Hagu irrigation area will be called, said Mukim Krueng.
