Bireuen Regency Government Presents Adiwiyata School Awards.

Bireuen Regency Deputy Regent, Ir H Razuardi, MT, symbolically presented awards to Elementary Schools (SD) and Junior High Schools (SMP) that successfully won the Adiwiyata School category.

The awards were presented by the Deputy Regent and his wife and assistant, and heads of related agencies in a series of events for the opening of the National Waste Awareness Day (HPSN) commemoration in the context of the Campaign and socialization of the Minimal Waste Lifestyle, Wednesday, 4/23/2025 morning, at the Old District Secretariat Hall.

The event was also attended by heads of agencies from related agencies, sub-district heads, representatives of universities, banking institutions and private hospitals, Islamic educational institutions, schools, Village Heads (Keuchik), and environmental activist communities and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).

Head of the Environment and Forestry Service, Ir Fadli, ST., MSM in his report explained that this activity was carried out to follow up on the Circular of the Minister of Environment/Head of the Environmental Control Agency of the Republic of Indonesia Number 01 of 2025 concerning National Waste Care Day 2025 addressed to Regents/Mayors throughout Indonesia.

The Bireuen Regency Government during the previous Regent's period had prepared policies related to waste management, namely through Bireuen Regent Regulation Number 40 of 2021 concerning regional policies and strategies in managing household waste and household-like waste.

Furthermore, it was followed up with the Circular of the Bireuen Regent Number 500.10/745 of 2024 concerning the prohibition of the use of single-use drinking water, plastic and styrofoam beverage packaging and/or plastic bags in the Bireuen Regency Government environment, and the Bireuen Regency community as today's activities are very environmentally friendly, he explained.

Deputy Regent of Bireuen, Ir H Razuardi, MT in his speech appealed to regional apparatus and all State Civil Apparatus (ASN) within the Bireuen Regency Government to support the implementation of the Circular. In addition, it can also provide an example to our families and neighbors to manage waste with the 3 R principle (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle), he said.

The Deputy Regent also emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government, community, and private sector in efforts to realize environmentally friendly and sustainable waste management.

The HPSN commemoration event initiated by the Environment and Forestry Service (DLHK) was also combined with the presentation of Adiwiyata awards to 12 schools in Bireuen Regency.

The six elementary schools consist of SD Negeri 1 Peusangan, SD Negeri 13 Jangka, SD Negeri 3 Percontohan Peusangan, SD Swasta Sekolah Sukma Bangsa Bireuen, SD Negeri 16 Juli, SD Negeri 21 Bireuen.

Then, the Junior High School (SMP) level consists of SMP Negeri 2 Bireuen, SMP Negeri 1 Kuala, SMP Negeri 3 Juli, SMP Negeri 3 Bireuen, SMP Negeri 3 Makmur, SMP Negeri 1 Jeumpa.

The event continued with socialization about Adiwiyata and Minimal Waste Lifestyle by M Jamansyah, Sp from the Aceh Environment and Forestry Service. Waste Management Strategy through Waste Bank by Ir Rama Herawati, MP as the Head of Unsyiah Waste Bank.

Material about Waste Management according to the Perspective of Islamic Law by Dr Nazaruddin, MA who is the Chancellor of the Islamic University of Aceh Peusangan, Bireuen Regency.
