Collaborating with Unicef and Flower Aceh, Bireuen Health Office Holds On The Job Training for Pregnant Women's Class Guide.
The Bireuen District Health Office (Dinkes), Aceh Province, together with Unicef and Flower Aceh as implementing partners, held On The Job Training (OJT) for Pregnant Women's Class Guide.
This activity took place for three days on April 21-23, 2025, in the Bireuen District Health Office Hall. The training was an effort to improve the quality of health services for pregnant women while supporting the acceleration of stunting reduction in Aceh.
A total of 12 village midwives and 1 nutritionist in Bireuen participated in this intensive training. The participants were provided with the latest guidelines for pregnant women's classes, interpersonal communication skills (KAP), and field practice with pregnant women in the community.
This activity is a follow-up to the Training of Trainers (ToT) which was previously held in Banda Aceh, April 9-11, 2025.
Nutrition Officer Unicef, dr Natassya Phebe said "UNICEF greatly appreciates the commitment of the Bireuen Regency Government (Pemkab) and all local partners in implementing this training. Pregnant women's classes with more interesting educational media will make it easier for pregnant women to understand the importance of nutrition and health during pregnancy.
"This is a form of long-term investment to create a generation of Acehnese children who are healthy, free from anemia, and free from stunting. We hope that this good model can be replicated in all health centers in Bireuen Regency," said Dr. Natassya Phebe.
Meanwhile, the Coordinator of the Flower Aceh Study, Education, and Publication Division, Hendra Lesmana, expressed his appreciation for this very important initiative.
"This activity is not just technical training, but also an important momentum to strengthen the role of women as agents of health change in their communities,".
"We hope that village midwives will not only be health workers, but also facilitators of gender-sensitive behavioral change and responsive to the needs of pregnant women," he explained.
"Flower Aceh is committed to continuing to support capacity building and assistance in the field, so that maternal health services are more inclusive, fair, and participatory, so that children as the Aceh generation live healthy lives with high nutritional quality and are free from stunting and malnutrition," he explained.
The Head of the Bireuen Regency PKK TP, Sadriah, SKM, MKM when opening the activity expressed his appreciation for the support of Unicef and Flower Aceh who continue to be consistent in increasing the capacity of health workers in Bireuen while conveying the importance of increasing the capacity of health workers health at the forefront to ensure quality antenatal care.
"The problem of maternal nutrition in Bireuen is still a concern, and training like this is important so that village midwives can deliver nutrition education with interactive and effective methods," she explained.
"The implementation of the On The Job Training for Pregnant Women's Class is very strategic to equalize service standards in all villages,".
"I hope that village midwives can implement this latest guide optimally in the community. Because the problem of maternal mortality and stunting rates cannot only be handled in health facilities, but starting from strong education in the community," she said.
This program is expected to improve the achievement of participation in pregnant women's classes in Bireuen, which was previously still below the national target.
In addition to discussing technical materials, participants were also provided with an understanding of the importance of family involvement, especially husbands, in supporting pregnant women during pregnancy until childbirth.
The activity was closed with field practice with 10 pregnant women at Meunasah Blang, Kota Juang, which consisted of a simulation of delivering mother class material, anemia education, a demonstration of balanced meal portions, and a discussion about pregnancy myths.
