Explain the difference between hard work and smart work according to your understanding?

Hard work and smart work are approaches adopted by goal chasers to achieve their desired goals. We have been hearing these terms for ages, so it is important to understand how they differ from each other.

Hard work, as the name implies, refers to putting in extreme efforts over longer periods of time to overcome challenges that come in the way of reaching desired goals. Hard workers put in persistent exhaustive efforts and show a high level of perseverance and dedication.

On the contrary, smart work refers to intelligent efforts through the optimization of resources and critical thinking in order to achieve set goals within a specified period of time. It doesn't involve excessive hard work.

Let's try to understand the difference between hard work and smart work by focusing on certain parameters:

  • Hard work involves persistent strong efforts, while * smart work involves efficient and effective strategies to reach the right goals.

  • Hard work often takes comparatively prolonged periods of time to reach a certain level because the efforts are usually unstrategic and don't involve smart tactics.

  • Smart work is based on the optimization of available resources and time through efficient processes or mechanisms, while hard work is based on strong dedication and perseverance.

Hard work and smart work, which do you think is better for boosting productivity?

Both hard work and smart work are required for boosting productivity. I believe these two are not mutually exclusive, which means they cannot replace each other. In other words, we cannot say hard work can boost productivity while smart work cannot, or vice versa.

Hard work involves achieving goals or boosting productivity through putting in extreme effort, dedication, time, and effort. Smart work involves putting in efforts in an efficient and effective manner via specific smart strategies to boost productivity.

Do you apply both in your work activities or not? Explain with case examples.

Yes, I apply both in my activities, regardless of their nature. As mentioned above, they are not mutually exclusive, so both are mandatory at some point during the course of action.

For example, during the years 2021-2022, I enrolled myself in a pharmacy course. It was an exhaustive course with a total of 16 books spread across four semesters, with an average of four books in each semester. I worked hard throughout these two years and finally completed the course. Towards the end of 2022, job vacancies were announced, and only a 20-day gap was provided for the written examination. It was challenging for me to revise all sixteen subjects in such a short time. Although I had read the books during the last two years, I had to revise all of them. So, I shifted to smart work, which involved consulting experts in the same field and having the books marked. I focused on important topics marked in all the books and prepared based on that. I was smart enough to crack the examination and got myself recruited.

Finally, we would like you to write words of thanks as a tribute to the Steemit Team for their work in steem growth so far.

I completely agree with your point of view. Working hard and working smart are both important for increasing productivity and complement rather than negate one another.

Thanks.

You're absolutely right! Both hard work and smart work are valuable and necessary for boosting productivity.

Thanks.
