Playing With Trucks In The Mud And Having A Race With My Son

in #life6 years ago

Yesterday my son asked if we could play with trucks in the mud while his mom and sister were gone to tap class. He is eight years already and my wife and I were talking the other day about his losing interest in playing with trucks. I took him up on his offer because I know there won't be much more time before these moments become fond memories.

The first place we stopped is the mud hole at the corner of our drive way that forms after a good rain.

Playing in the mud or outside during a hard rain are activities we have always let the children do since they were babies. Studies show germs exposed to while in the mud can actually help strengthen the immunity of children to various bacteria and diseases. Plus now the children don't leave a big mess in the house because they know the proper rules of mud and water decontamination before entering!

We then proceeded up the hill to have a race down the driveway. By this time my back is killing me. The smaller green pickup(above) was assigned to me and I was bent over rather low to push the truck. As you can see Frankie has quite the lead going up the hill!

We ended up having three races. The first race was a push and let go of the vehicles to see which one made it down the hill first. The second race we had to hold on to the vehicles and physically push them to the bottom of the hill. I lost this race by quite the margin. The third race was the same as the first.

I won the first race on a technicality aka better aim!

Frankie stubbed his toe during the second race! AND still won!

Frankie won the third race by a photo finish

Thank you for joining us our truck adventure! It's always fun to have these moments with the children. We have to grab onto them while we have the opportunity because before one knows it, the children are grown and out of the house and we are left wondering where the time went.

Awee I love that you acknowledge that these times won't last forever! Not just for your memories but for his as well. Thanks for sharing! Hopefully your back survived! lol

My son could be in the middle of Disneyland and he would want to play with one of his trucks in the mud. He isn't even 2 yet though... =)
