My Actifit Report Card: January 11 2020
It was raining again for most of the day but cleared enough for me to play a round of disc golf with my friends. The first part of the round it was really windy and we had a few throws go badly.
About part way through I was feeling like I was warming up a bit and the wind died down. It is much easier for me to putt when I'm not feeling too cold so things went a lot better.
I ended up finishing the round with a five over par score which I was happy with for the eighteen basket course and the weather conditions.
One of my friends lost his Shark disc throwing for one of the baskets close to the river. It turned up and went right and never faded back much. The river is running really high right now from all the rain so we all thought the Shark disc was probably swimming out to the sea with his buddies, lol.
I've nearly lost discs throwing on that basket too so I almost always forehand something pretty stable when I throw it.
If the river was not running so high we might have been able to recover it.

It looks like it was not very healthy and had some kind of fungus in the trunk:
Sometimes when you are in the forest and you hear the wind blowing around the trees it starts creaking the branches and trunks. It kind of sounds like what I would imagine a old ship of the line would sound like in a gale. My friend was getting a bit worried but I figured it would be a reasonably pain free way to go to be flattened by a tree. It somehow didn't feel like my time to go and the wind did calm down shortly.
It seems to me there is kind of a balancing act to being carefree enough to enjoy life yet cautious enough to get out of the woods during a gale.

Yeah I get out of the woods when it is really gusty. I see those pines really start swaying. Doesnt take much to topple them!

Nice shot of the tree and great close up of the fungus and the sharp pieces of the trunk. I don't think I have ever seen fungus attack a tree in that way. Is that a damp area.
Oh! Someone lost another disc! I would say that the river is a bottomless pit of discs! :)

You might say it rains a bit around here, lol. My backyard has had some drainage issues this season but I've got a large barrel catching the water drip from the roof gutter now. I thought I had that fixed but no such luck. The barrel seems to take a few days to fill up and I hope diverting the water will help fix the swamp issue.
The river has swallowed its share of discs, lol. It is a challenging water hazard but that makes the course a lot of fun.
