Life Reality: Part III
“Let’s do the math. One ounce of Rush goes for fifty dollars. You lost an entire gallon. That’s more than six thousand dollars. See, people can be replaced. There is always someone hungrier and more ready to do what needs to be done. Someone who is willing to do whatever it takes to make it. But money, money cannot be replaced. You can get more of it of course, but it can never be replaced.”
BAN BANG BANG –
“Please sir!” The final man screamed, stopping Obadiah from pulling the trigger again. The begging man looked up cowering in front of his reaper. “I’ll get the money back! Please! I have a daughter!”
Gun still pointed at him, Obadiah’s face softened. The mention of a child had changed his entire attitude. He clenched his jaw. “I’m doing her a favor.”
BANG
The room was deathly silent as he looked at the members of his gang. “You are Wolves!” He roared at the top his lungs. “You are the hunters not the hunted! When someone messes with this family they are put down. Make no mistake.” He used the gun to point at the five dead bodies. “They were not Wolves! They were sheep” He spat on one of the bodies. “putting on Wolves’ clothing! The next time someone runs into this bastard, I want you to make sure he knows what real Wolves do!”
An uproar of yells and screams of agreement shook the entire warehouse. The meeting was over and members of the Wolves began talking amongst themselves on how the Shadow wouldn’t make it through the week. The bloodlust was high and Obadiah was counting on that to make the Shadow think twice before coming out of the Lower End. Obadiah returned to his limo, happy to be back in the comfort of lavish living. He rolled the window down as he saw Diamond headed toward him.
Diamond leaned on the window. “I don’t think you understand how dangerous the Shadow is O.”
“On the contrary Diamond. I hate threats and I take any threat to be of the highest priority. From what I read, the Wolves won’t be able to get this done.” He looked right at him. “We are being hunted.”
“Let me deal with it. I’ll get-”
“No, I need you to start moving all of the Rush to one location and I need you there. When he comes for it, then you put him down.” He grabbed a pen and a napkin and began to write. “You let everyone know where we will be putting it all. If he comes asking, make sure he knows where to look.” He handed over the napkin.
Diamond smiled wickedly. “Yes sir.”
Obadiah rolled up the window without another word.
“Home sir?”
“No, the Royal Garden.” He tightened his grip on the cane. He was going to need help and he knew exactly where to get it.
