What do you know about Emotional Siege?

Have you ever been so worried about the end of any matter? Have you ever been so unsure about the outcome of a thing? You become so anxious that you lose sleep, happiness and even appetite. You almost tend to lose your sanity and mind. You just want to know the outcome so you can find a way out.

Anyone could be a victim of emotional siege but what matters is how able you are to control yourself when in this state. It is not a pleasant state for one to be in. It could make one run psycho.

Emotional siege is just a state of being uncertain and unsure about a particular thing or the future of a thing. A state when one is skeptical about the turn out of any particular thing, action or event.

Let's see some real life examples...

Have you gone for an HIV test before and you did not trust yourself? As you walked into the clinic, hospital or whatever place to carry out the test, you get to feel the virus eating deep inside of you. You are yet to carry on with the test but your emotions are already toying with you. Boom! the doctor takes your blood sample, and for whatever reason, you are waiting for the results to come out. That's the best time and moment the TV screen shows statistics of people with HIV, how many people have died as a result and the percentage of infected persons in your country. Your mind tends to skip. Beside you, is also someone sharing his or her own story of contacting the virus, you turn around and behold you see a lot of patients with the virus. You literally faint. The doctor comes out and begins telling you how having the disease is not the end of the world and bla bla bla. He then hands you the papers and you are too scared to open. Emotional siege!

There is this course in school you are pretty sure you did not do very well. If you fail, it means a carry over for you which could eventually lead to an extra year. You are very sure your parents would not be proud of it. The results of every other course is out except this particaular one. For days you cannot eat, you cannot even sleep with your eyes closed, you cannot even laugh to a very funny joke. You walk into the school, all you see and hear is 'extra year. You imagine how disdaining it would be to be in a class with your junior colleagues; everything at that moment reminds you of the results. You friends unknowing see you moody asks, 'why the long face as though you failed an examination? You even get more worried; now you are distressed and all worked up not because you failed but because you do not know if you have failed or passed. You are being kept in an emotional siege.

The time comes for your period and boom it does not flow. Could be you had an unprotected pre-marital sex previous days. As you take a walk down the street, you see dozens of nursing mothers and pregnant women. Suddenly, everything about you and around you begins to smell like a baby. Your mind and soul is being held captive by your emotions, your feelings and perceptions. You are being held in a very strong mental captivity and bondage. You are scared because you have been tested pregnant but because you are unsure of you - Emotional siege!

There are a thousand and one examples I would ave used to describe emotional but I will deliberately pause here. Emotional siege is very very dangerous. Many peolpe laugh and play but bonded, they smile and joke around but are being held captive by their own selves, their emotions and perceptions. There seem to be this low level of depression; Anyways, depression is depression irrespective of the magnitude. Emotional siege kills. It may lead to high blood pressure, hypertension or worst case scenario, mental derangement.

Do well to avoid emotional siege and if eventually, you are in one, you can always set yourself lose.

Thank you for reading!!! You could share your siege story.*
