WOS Wrestling: Episode Three
WOS Wrestling returns for it's third show of the series, and just when you thought you had it figured out they change the format
The two previous episodes have consisted of four matches, separated by ad-breaks, with the odd interview/promo with Rachel Stranger. Episode Three however starts with former champion Grado confronting executive/commentator Stu Bennett a.k.a. WWE's Wade Barrett in his office, demanding Bennett treat him with the respect he deserves, Bennett replying Grado needs to take the wrestling business seriously.
We then see Grado walk, not dance, down to the ring in a suit, visibly restraining himself from his usual audience pleasing frivolities. Then goes one-on-one against 'The Eastend Butcher' Sha Samuels...still in his suit.
Then we have the inevitable grudge match between Joe Hendry and Martin Kirby, following Kirby's walk out on hendry, his tag partner during the first round of the tag-team tournament in Episode One.
This was follwed by CJ Banks and Brad Slayer taking on Stevie Boy and BT Gunn in the third round of the tag-team tournament. This match also introduces the last of the men's roster.
Last week's show featured a ladder match where the contestants had to retrieve a briefcase containing an undisclosed 'big opportunity'. This week winner Gabriel Kidd got to claim his prize...a match with the 36 stone monster Crater.
This is also where we get to see Stu Bennett's heel (bad guy) persona shine through. We've previously seen him turn a blind eye to cheating from fellow heels, but here, as the executive, he's engineered this match so Crater has someone to destroy, and as a commentator we get to hear is delight at both his plan coming together and at Crater's dissemination of Kidd.
In the fifth and final match of the day we see champion Rampage defending against Justin Sysum.
It's hard to predict WOS, Epiosde Three featured five matches instead of the established four, it's first backstage moment, and no Rachel Stranger. We're also starting to see the emergence of rivalries between several of the performers.
