How to Change Habits to Start a New Lifestyle

in #life9 years ago

Decisions on changes usually start at the end of week, and they refer to Monday as the day No. 1 for the start of any change. The most popular are still those New Year and spring when our only goal is to look good on the beach, to impress others or to convince ourselves that this year's decision permanent.

However, after years and years of getting used to a same lifestyle, without too much questioning and preparation we make a decision about a new style in which we live tomorrow. Not enough time, lack of preparation and of course inadequate support are the main reasons why changes fail in the long run and why the change succeeds only 10% of people. To be in that 10% and to start a new life are necessary to us at least three things: desire, intention and persistence!

When we want something really bad, we decide to do it and we have good dose of stubbornness which does not allow us giving up, the chance is that we will succeed. Of course, many are found in this definition of success, but it also includes several sub-questions.

  • How much do I really want it?
  • What else do I need to change?
  • What is my current income, or why I live how I live?
  • What is the other option to satisfy the same needs?
  • What will happen if I do not change my behavior?
  • What will happen if I change?

So, it is important that we really want to change, and that at the same time we feel an aversion to what we live. It is also important to recognize what we get with this kind of behavior, because obviously, for some reason we suffer, so is valid to try to find other ways to satisfy the same needs.

Changing lifestyle is the way, one of those long heavy that begins with the first step, but we do not know when it ends. Everyone who go on this way we will pass through the stages of ups and downs, and we will find in the maintenance phase changes. If we are surrounded with experts who will help us their support, the probability of success is higher, but our desire, intention and persistence then worth multiple.
