Original Music - Playing With Synthesizers And Guitars In The Studio

in #originalmusic8 years ago

A rocking jam I did with synthesizer and guitars, this song was an experiment to get the blend of guitars and synths to fit into the sound spectrum without competing with each other.

One of the reasons recording sound bad is frequencies competing with each other can create unpleasant aural effects and phase cancellation.

To "clean up" the sound so to speak, each element is given it's own frequency range so there is minimal overlap. This makes the music sound better and each instrument stand out in the total composition.

This track is an exercise in exactly that.

Once all the tracks were recorded, I used a spectral analyzer to visually see the different bandwidths. A spectral analyzer is like the EQ on a stereo, but you can see the frequencies instead of just hear them, making it easier to give every instrument it's own range of frequencies. Cool little device.

I didn't spend as much time on the drum machine to get it to sound as real as some of the earlier tracks I've shared with you, but it works for this exercise.

Give it a listen and let me know what you think. Thanks.

Lovin the palm muting!

You have a good ear.

Linkin Park would tear this up. Loving this, great stuff. Thanks for sharing. Upvoted

Thanks. I could totally hear them doing this. They would rock it for sure.

You're most welcome. A lot of talent in Steemit. We are all adding to the mix.

Good blend. Linkin Park most definitely. Personally, I'd like to hear the bass more defined. :)
