The Twelve Collegia in St. Petersburg

in Steem-Travelers3 years ago

Hello everybody! Today I will show you the building of 12 colleges. It was built in 1722-1742 from the Petrine era remaining in Saint Petersburg.

The collegia were almost modern ministries. Since 1804, this building became the seat of the Pedagogical Institute, and in 1835 the building was occupied by the St. Petersburg State University. I am a graduate student at this university. Now in front of its entrance there is a monument to the university students.

Inside there is the famous long (probably the longest in the city) corridor with books, portraits and sculptures of scientists.
20
For example, Mendeleev is a famous Russian chemist.
22
And at the end of the corridor there is a painting showing how Peter signed the decree on the construction of this building.
23
And finally, the inner part of the courtyard.
21
Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus, many premises were closed yesterday - most students study online, and practical classes are held in other buildings. But gardens and sculptures were opened near other faculties, but I will talk about this next time.

I am a graduate student at this university - What do you study there? I graduated from the Faculty of Geography and Ecology of St. Petersburg State University many years ago. Today, it is called Institute of Earth Sciences, as I understand.

Wow! I am studying psychophysiology and clinical psychology, started this year. In 3 years I hope to defend my Ph.D. thesis.

Psychology, an interesting field :)

Fan-ta-stic! I love it!
Are you from Russia or Marocco or is it all just your trips?

Thank you! I'm from Russia. A month ago I moved to St. Petersburg from Magadan. And in Morocco, I was on vacation this summer. Later I will post photos from other countries.
