Any registered person who has citizenship in a country has the right to vote according to his/her wish without distinction of race or religion. Accordingly, I would like to thank Hindwhale Community and @deepak94 for organizing the valuable contest called one nation one voting.

Any person who has citizenship and is registered in any country has the right to vote according to his will. I believe it is the same in India. There are various differences in the electoral system in different countries. Also, with the advancement of technology in today's society, we have seen methods of using electronic voting and methods of using online voting. Using a vote can also mean the preference or partiality shown to a certain party or a certain person.
Voting System in your Country

My country is Sri Lanka which is an Asian country and in my country any Sri Lankan citizen who has personal registration above 18 years can use his free vote. There is a democratic government in the country and any person has the right to use his vote as a free vote. Elections are often held in the country with the desire to appoint the country's rulers and people's leaders.

When considering voting in elections in Sri Lanka, all Sri Lankan citizens over the age of 18 are required to be registered in a voter register and have the option to vote or not to vote. There people who get this popular vote use symbols and numbers to stand up and represent that person or that party. There are currently 2 voting systems used in elections in Sri Lanka.

  • Ordinary voting system
  • postal voting system

Ordinary voting system

In the ordinary voting system, the voters confirm their identity and go to the polling station according to the electoral roll and use their free vote. Here, the name of the voter is marked in the voter list and the voter's finger is marked with ink that he/she has used it for voting.

Finally, after the declared time, the voter list along with the ballot boxes with all the votes cast are sent to the counting centers with special security.

This system of postal voting requires those working away from home in government or non-government jobs to apply for permission to vote by mail through postal vote applications before holding a vote. Also, about a week before the polling day, postal voters will be able to cast their vote from their workplace. The given vote will be securely forwarded to the necessary counting centers by the postal department.

In my country, these polling methods are used for the elections, and polls are conducted using the internet and social networks for various competitions. Also, these voting methods are used for betting on some matches. Some of the cases where such voting systems are used are as follows.

For reality competitions
For fashion selection competitions
For beauty selection competitions
For selection competitions
For the winners of various races
Debate competitions etc.

There are basically three types of elections in Sri Lanka. That is,

  • provincial assembly elections

This will give the people the right to appoint the governors of the local area and provincial assembly they belong to through the free democratic vote of the people.

  • general elections

This is also known as the parliamentary election and will allow the public to elect the member of parliament for their administrative area.

  • presidential elections

It is the election to appoint the governor of the country by the will of the people according to the will of the people of the country. Here, presidential candidates representing various political parties apply for the election and the candidate who wins the most popular votes becomes the country's president.

All the elections held in Sri Lanka are managed by the Election Commission of Sri Lanka and it is mandatory for all candidates to register in this commission with the symbol of the party they are contesting and the number they are contesting in the election. This process is called submission of nominations.

In all elections except for the presidential election, copies of the symbols and numbers of the proposed candidates are noted on the ballot paper and the voters mark their preference in front of the number and party of the candidate they support when declaring their vote. But in the presidential election, only one candidate from one party is nominated, so only the party's symbol is recorded in the ballot paper. Voters thereby indicate their preference for the party they are supporting.

The above image shows the official logos of the political parties that competed in the last presidential election in Sri Lanka. Here, all the elections held in the country will take place under the extensive security of the administration and security departments of the Election Commission and there will be no possibility of any fraudulent use of votes. At the end of the election, the ballot containers will be taken to the counting stations and extensive security will be provided by the security forces in the country until the counting of the votes. This will enable a peaceful election to be held in the country.
