This has been the craziest transfer window ever by a long shot. Big names and even the biggest names changing clubs. Lionel Messi went to PSG with not so much drama. His contract ended with Barcelona, Barcelona couldn't renew the contract, PSG offered messi a contract, and messi accepted. Pretty straightforward. But the real drama was in the transfer of the Portuguese legend, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo was seeking a move away from Italy. Because he felt he wasn't valued as much as he deserves in Juventus. So he talked to his agent Jorge Mendes about a possible move away from Turin.
Mendes contacted both the Manchester clubs. Both parties were interested in the transfer. City were a bit reluctant. As they were keen on getting Ronaldo for free and they didn't want to pay anything. But Juventus were also reluctant to let Ronaldo leave without any fee. But the personal terms between Ronaldo and City were agreed. Mendes used it as leverage, so that Man United steps up their pursuit as he knew they wouldn't let their boy go to city rivals. When Man United saw that Ronaldo is on his way to Manchester City, the whole club went wild.
Cristiano Ronaldo talked to Sir Alex Ferguson yesterday morning ahead of the transfer to go through. Fergie then forced Solskjaer to make a move for Cristiano Ronaldo. He called members of United’s board and Mendes, to ensure United were doing everything possible. Sources say “all hell would have broken loose” if United had missed out again. Rio Ferdinand stepped in heavily, almost acting as a broker on behalf of Manchester United. Ferdinand had firmly counseled Ronaldo over the hurt seeing him joining City might cause. Solskjær understood that let alone playing for Man City, seeing Cristiano Ronaldo moving to that part of Manchester would have wider consequences for Manchester United. Allowing Ronaldo to move to City would damage the club in the eyes of current players, potential recruits, and supporters.
In addition to Bruno Fernandes, Rio Ferdinand and Patric Evra, Solskjaer also intervened personally in the deal for Ronaldo. And finally, within two intensive hours, Man United completely hijacked a Cristiano Ronaldo deal which was apparently done and dusted so secure Ronaldo's homecoming.
