MY FAVOURITE DISH .
Biryani, a mouthwatering dish originating from the Indian subcontinent, has become an all-time favorite for many people across the globe. This flavorful and aromatic dish comes in a variety of types and variations, such as simple, spicy, chicken, beef, and mutton biryani. Among these variations, Karachi chicken biryani stands out as one of the most popular and delicious options favored by Pakistani cuisine enthusiasts. In this essay, I will share my favorite chicken biryani recipe with you, emphasizing the unique aspects of Karachi-style preparation that make it a delightful culinary experience. By following this guide, you too will be able to enjoy and appreciate the complex flavors and textures of this exquisite dish, I will outline the essential ingredients and step-by-step process to re-create this beloved Karachi-style chicken biryani at home.
Let's make Karachi Chicken Biryani at home!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup oil
- 1 kg chicken
- 1 kg rice
- 3 medium-sized tomatoes
- 3 medium-sized onions
- 10 to 11 green chilies (adjust to your desired spiciness, minimum of 5)
- 2 tablespoons garlic/ginger paste
- Garam masala
- Karachi Biryani masala (for the best taste, but you can use your regular masalas if unavailable)
- 2 normal lemons
- 1 kg yogurt
- food colour
- salt 3 table spoon
Recipe:
- Place a medium-sized pot on low heat,
and add the cup of oil. Once heated, add the ginger-garlic paste and mix well. After it turns golden, add chopped onions and continue stirring until golden.
Add in the chicken, garam masala, and chopped green chilies. Mix well and let it cook for five minutes until chicken begins to turn golden. Cover with a lid and keep the flame low.
In a large pot on another flame, fill it halfway with water and bring it to a boil. Add the rice to cook, then strain when cooked through.
Stir your chicken mixture once more before adding the biryani masala ,tomatoes and yogurt. Mix well and let it cook for another five minutes.
In a clean pot, layer half of the strained rice, followed by yellow food coloring and the chicken masala mixture. Add the remaining rice on top, followed by more food coloring, fried onions, mint leaves, and lemon slices.
Cover the pot for dum (steam cooking) and wait for five minutes. After that, open your Chicken Biryani pot and mix everything well.
