Durian has such an unpleasant odor that he is unlikely to be allowed to enter a public place. However, if you overcome the disgust or just close your nose and savor the juicy flesh, you will immediately understand where the concept of the king of fruits appeared. Of all the variety of fruits, only the durian became the owner of such a popular feature. Few people imagine that all this is absolute truth.

Durian has a "pleasant aroma" that makes it impossible to enter hotels, elevators, shops, taxis and many other public places. Some of them even have a special durian-shaped sign crossed out with a red line. This means that the entry with the fruit is strictly prohibited. This is due to the fact that the odor is very persistent and even after a long time after eating it, the aroma remains and, what is more important, it does not fade or is eliminated by the cosmetic products.

This is the main reason why it can not be stored for a long time. In the world there are many epithets that are used to describe the smell of this fruit. In spite of everything, he is considered the king of fruits. You can see this for yourself after tasting the meat, which has a truly divine flavor. Thais argue that it can be compared to a delicious cream of milk and eggs. If you want to get an unforgettable experience, then try durian. The name comes from the Malayan word prickle - duri, as well as the suffix an, which means prickly fruit.

His native land is India, Indonesia, Ceylon, Thailand, the Philippines and Indochina. He argued that the best durian grows on a plantation near Bangkok. This fruit is a fairly large fruit that can reach 30 cm and weigh up to 8 pounds. They are completely covered with peel, which "decorate" the thorns. Inside there are several oblong chambers, and in them there are delicate tasty masses of yellowish white color. Durian is a giant evergreen tree that grows up to 40 meters tall.

It has bright and leathery leaves, slightly sharp and alternate. The upper part of the leaves is smooth, while the opposite is covered with scales. This amazing fruit blooms only a few hours: the golden brown, white or golden flowers have an intense sour smell. They open at nightfall, and at dawn they fall. The main period of ripening of the fruit is the beginning of spring and ends at the end of summer.

The purchase of durian should not be entrusted by the seller, and do everything yourself. This purchase will require special attention out of season, as that is when bad durians are often on the shelves. When pressed, the fruit should be slightly soft. Fruits that grow in excess are very soft and immature fruits are not susceptible to pressure.

The maturity of this product can be determined by the state of the thorns. If they change, then the fruits are of high quality and maturation, but if they are immobile, then they should still be lying down. Pay attention to the smell of the durian. If it has a very strong aroma, then it is very likely that it is wet inside, too mature. Do not draw conclusions about the color of the fruit, because the colors of different varieties are very different.

It is best to use the durian immediately for food, but in a different situation you can resort to storage. It should be noted that this fruit can not be placed in the refrigerator. At room temperature, this product can be stored for 5 days, but not longer. Do not keep durian with other fruits.

The Chinese are very valued durian and it is a fairly expensive treatment for children. Buy it just for vacations. On this day, the whole family should sit down at the table and eat all the fruit in one session. For the Malays, eating durian is a real ritual that can be compared to meditation. In absolutely every country in Asia where durian grows, it is considered a medicinal plant. These fruits have been attributed for a long time to the rejuvenating force. There is a legend about the king, who was in love with a lovely girl, but she did not correspond to his feelings. Because of this, the Lord turned to the magician, who brought him fruit.

The king gave the girl to try the fruits and she immediately fell in love with him. The governor was so happy to have forgotten the magician, without thanking him. The magician was so angry that he cursed these wonderful fruits. When Vladyka came for a new fruit of love, he did not find it, but only a thorny fruit with an unpleasant smell. The king seized the anger, and threw it to the ground. He was very surprised when he discovered the "love mass" inside, so he gave it a new name, namely, "durian".

Growing up with a mother who loved durian, I can honestly say that durian is the nastiest food ever to mar this green earth.

The worst was when mum would leave opened durian in the fridge. The odor would fuse with all the other food. I remember many a day when I would go to school with sandwiches smelling like durian. Yuck!

My parents both love durian. I am sorry to say that I would rather be punched in the face than eat this foul fruit which no doubt grew from the depths of the darkest vines of hell's bum. Durian? Poo-rian!

All joking aside, thanks for posting this. It brings back memories of my childhood. I'm sure durian has many health benefits, and so many people I know who do enjoy it compare to ice cream or something. If you love it, keep on eating it, just make sure you brush your teeth before talking to me haha!
